I honestly don't see the point of raising the cap. If you're capping just because you aren't spending the tomes, doubling the cap isn't going to change anything. You're just going to cap again in short order anyway.

I also don't even see how it could be considered a time-saving measure. It takes so little time to go purchase items whenever you cap that the amount of time you might save from a doubled cap is equal to exactly dick (in fact, since now you're spending twice as long farming, I'm fairly certain you're breaking even with a doubled cap).

You just pointed out exactly why there's little use in increasing the cap: the gear gets outdated so quickly that the higher cap isn't going to help you much. It'll actually likely take you longer to farm enough tomes for an entire set of left and right-side equipment than it would to just level up to the next best set of gear. And that segues into three more points:

- The 2,000 tome cap only leaves you 455 tomes short of having an entire set (you're basically only missing three accessories). Doubling the cap for such a tiny discrepancy that can be made up for in short order is silly.

- Accessories can be worn by anyone and with the exception of NIN and DRG, all armor is worn by multiple classes. That means the benefits of the cap drop off exponentially after your first class and continues to nosedive with each new piece you buy.

- You're still earning tomes while you're leveling your current class to 70. Combined with the two above points, that means you should be able to more or less gear out every single class with full poetics gear by the time you get your current class from 50 to 70. The only way that wouldn't happen is if you throw out gear when you still have classes that could have used it (such as vendoring your Fending gear after your WAR is too high to use it when you know full well you want to level DRK too).

So in summation, a 4,000 poetics cap wouldn't help anything. At all.
