    Not that I’m actively boycotting DRK but I dropped it immediately after week 1 of Savage. Only touch it occasionally for expert roulette just for variety.
    Count me in this group too. I really like 4.0 DRK, so much so that I feel weird when I play my PLD or WAR even though they're statistically better.

    I don't want some full rework (that's not feasible until 5.0 anyway and I don't want it even then), I just want the current toolkit buffed so they're viable.

    I've been reading all these threads, and well I agree drk could use a slight potency buff, and maybe a little better physical mitigation, calling them unviable is kinda silly. I mean 4 of the top 10 speed runs on fflogs for v4s have a drk in them, seems like they're pretty viable in pretty much any scenario (prog, speed runs, casual content).

    I haven't read this particular thread top-to-bottom, but "not viable" isn't something I've seen thrown around much if at all. The problem is we're just bad compared to the other two and completely below them in all categories.

    Using current content as a judge is meaningless, mainly because of how easy this tier was. Also if you check fflogs usage statistics overall, they'll tell you a different story. Looking at speed runs only shows a fraction of the big picture.

    The problem with usage statistics is they are heavily biased by player perception. If the meta is war pld, less people are gonna enter on drk regardless of how viable they are. I did acknowledge they need a dps buff, and lack of mitigation from aa is telling in some content, but they definitely still have a place in almost all content.

    Honestly, the changes it would take to make drk super competitive would be pretty minor. Buff dark arts potency boost to gcd rotation skills by 60, buff blood spiller base potency and drk arts potency boost both by 60 (75 in grit), add 6% mitigation to blood price and make it available out of grit as well, but leave the blood generation tied to grit (maybe make blood generation double current though). Those changes alone would bring the dps, burst capability under party buffs and mitigation in line with the other tanks. They'd also make using blood spiller feel good since it wouldn't be a lower potency attack than your average da-se.

    I understand your perspective, so far keeping Dark arts and using abilities with it properly is what changes the way a DRK has become more effective and difficult. If more people knew how to use dark arts properly and learn how to keep their MP at an acceptable level constantly there might be less complains. Your right seems easy if you stick to the basic enmity rotations, mix in some Dark arts and proper use of blood gauge abilities and it's more complicated than people give it credit. It all depends on play style. I play all 3 Tank roles and by Far I enjoy DRK. I'm sorry if others may not accept the fact that there is more to DRK's than they think or even bother trying. Then again most people on this game think they know their jobs with out even understanding how everything works yet when placed into actual performance is very questionable.

    So maybe some players prefer DRK as it. Ok, I prefer the new Brd far better than the old.
    But as an old DRK player, I just give up with this job, that is no more the same as before, in all points.

    I hated DRK in HW because I'm a hipster Final Fantasy fan at heart and Dark Knights are about bitching armor and big damage, but how DRK performs compared to HW in SB makes the Dark Knight in HW look amazing compared to the garbage we have in Stormblood.

    And that's fucking sad.

    The only thing it has going for it is TBN. Outside of that? Awful. Awful everywhere.

    I'm not complaining about the job but I really didn't think warrior needed a buff, either. If warrior needed the Shake it Off change then Dark Knight deserves something, too. Personally I'd like to see it come in the form of some Dark Arts interaction with an existing skill, maybe extending a cooldown to the group. I felt like back in HW what made DRK feel like the "advanced" tank was the added layer of complexity in Dark Arts usage. If we actually used that, then it would be a potency loss. Therefore we probably DO need a potency buff, which I'm also okay with. PLD dps should be hands down the lowest of the three tanks (hard to say who should be higher between DRK and WAR, I'd say WAR) and if they won't nerf paladins they should buff dark knights.
