That's a complete strawman argument that has nothing to do with this. Yes, I enjoyed the trial the way FFXIV implemented it. It was unique and engaging and I felt accomplished for having cleared it. The game it was based on has nothing to do with it.

I just don't want to wake up one day and find out the next MSQ has me play a round of pac-man, space invaders, simon, or have a kugane-like jumping puzzle in it.
Aw man yes please. Point-and-click WoL mini game XD That said that sounds much more like something in an event o3o still, do want.

Lord forbid people actually have to put some bit of effort into progressing in a video game.

I would love to see something like this too! Either in an event or even at the Gold Saucer. I grew up on Intellivision and NES (showing my age there xD) so would love to see some really old school games. Imagine some kind of 8-bit Donkey Kong based mini game.

It's not 'stupid'. Many fights in the game require decent situational awareness to avoid failing mechanics. It's great that Stormblood appears to be making a genuine effort to teach players how to deal with a wider range of mechanics. The second fight in Bardam's Mettle, for instance, is another great example. I welcome more of it.

How about a Garlean themed Galaga? It'd be a welcome addition to the toy chest!

No it doesn't. It's literally "see glowing orbs, move to glowing orbs, press a button. Glowing orbs closer to their target have highest priority".
A PLD using Flash to pull does that all the time.

    ---

For people saying "having options doesn't hurt". Yes it does. First, it messes with the initial design, as you have to design something that can have an "easy mode" or that doesn't mess with having multiple people participating in it (what was asked in this thread). It's like saying lootboxes in games like Shadow of War doesn't mess with the initial design. Yes they do.
Secondly, it takes time to develop. It cannot appear in a fingersnap. They'd have to drop something else to make these features... for a very tiny minority of terrible players who play an action based game with way below average reflexes, awareness and propre decision making. It is literally taking away ressources to allow a fraction of the playerbase to be able to get carried through one of the easiest content in the game.

So, please, don't act like there's no trade-off and that there are only positive aspects to it. That's not true. It's very far from it actually.

Sounds more like a case of people who play follow leader in raids and dungeons. But the MSQ event does not have a leader for them to follow so they are lost.

One thing I noticed about that fight that may help people is to just take your camera and put it as far out as possible, then turn it facing down (looking at from above). It then becomes almost like a bullet-hell type game // sort of the way Nier:Automata will go from melee/3rd person into that type of thing. That way it will look just like those old 1942 style arcade games, kinda. Plus, put the button to pop the bubbles in a location that is easy to hit and/or quickly link a hotkey for it to your mouse/KB. ^_^v

I don't want to see the game "gimped" anymore than it already is. It took me a few attempts before I was able to complete. What's the fun of always having something handed to you? BTW, I am in the same age bracket as you. (10 grandchildren and counting )

Actually, I would like the OPTION to bring a friend or be invited to do some MSQ instances with a friend. It's mostly due to the fact that I've been playing for a number of years in a row and a friend of mine hasn't been playing as much and has barley even started Heavensward. It's kinda hard to convince someone to keep playing and unlock dunjins so we could play together, it'd be a lot easier to convince them to do the content if I could actively help them in solo instances like that.
