I mean, yeah, on paper healing always looks simple. Push one of these buttons to heal people, or one of these to shield for an upcoming attack, etc. Not just in XIV but in any game. In concept, it's straightforward.

The devil is in the details.

Admittedly, under ideal circumstances -- say, an overgeared tank doing single dungeon pulls -- that is pretty easy (and boring), yes. But I'm not really sure where you'd get the execution is easy part -- that's the harder part, especially when you're GCD choked and adding movement mechanics on top of that.

Unless, of course, you're only talking dungeons or other content where most healer abilities are unneeded anyways... Yes, that kind of stuff you can cruise control through.

(And as a technical point, healers do have plenty of timers too. Yes it's not "maintain this buff to do +X% DPS", of course it's not.)
