Well, I had all healers at 70 before ever touching WAR, so these WHMs were just extra painful to watch because I knew their strengths and limitations in those dungeons, and the fact that they just kept getting themselves killed to the stupidest of things and the simplest of mechanics. Dying because they wouldn't heal unavoidable AoEs and stood on perfectly avoidable ones, letting Doom tick down, etc. There is being new to a dungeon, and then there is being new to lvl 60 content altogether, I guess.

I used to despise WAR in HW for being a supposed tank job with DPS stack juggling mechanics. Seeing how they streamlined the skill bloat for SB, and did away with the stacks, really helps make the job much better for me. I still prefer PLD, though, TBH. I mean, given my track record with healers when I'm tanking, I'd much rather be able to heal both myself and others when necessary.

Meh, mixed so far. Ran a new optional dungeon and tank did double pulls but wasn't squishy so I could Holy Spam to help out. Second run was Bardam and tank wanted to pull everything but was squishy. Kept him up in first huge pull, but in second one he kept pulling even below 30% and my Asylum, healing spam, etc couldn't keep up. Maybe there is a trick to big pulls I don't know, but I was happy that I ran the last boss really well. No issues. I used to have a perspective problem when the dungeon first came out that made it hard to see the glowing eye over the boss so I kept moving the camera this time to make sure I could see it. Naturally the tank decided to write "Nice run, except for the healer LOL!!!" right before he clicked on the exit. Meh. I did my best. That's good enough for me. If others can't be bothered to say something constructive, I can't be bothered to care what they think or want.

Now to trials roulette.

I had a really weird run last night. Around 5am, my time, I thought I'd do my expert roulette. But instead of immediatly signing up for it, I figured I might as well use Party Finder, and get some dps the chance to skip queues, so I get 2 rather quickly, and a tank.

Everything was fine up to the first boss. Then, right after we killed it, the tank starts asking one of the DPS if he used Diversion. "Nope" he said. And that's a question worth asking because that dps was obviously generating a lot of aggro. I can't see numbers on PS4 but that guy had an enmity bar 4 times as high as mine (and I do DPS on a 95% uptime, as scholar)

Anyway, from the instant he said "nope", the tank started harassing him, all the way to the end, for being a "noob" who "can't use his skills", that "his dps isn't even that great anyway" (so much to be pissed by the non-usage of diversion, ikr), "that he can't even deliverance because of that", on and on... instead of just asking politely "Can you please use Diversion for the next boss?"


So much to be nice and help people skip queues in PF. Never again.

Been spamming Skalla for the new gear, Selli has been spamming Dun Scaith for the minion. I think she's at/over 100 runs now. Decided to kidnap her for some Skalla (and that healer queue time. Mmm).

We have a new tank who is pulling single packs, not a big deal. Between myself, my girlfriend, and the other DPS (either a SMN or a RDM, I forget) things are dying fast and the bosses are going well. Then suddenly after the second boss the tank decides they want to pull big now. Except we're at the part of the dungeon where you need to be transformed to cross the gaps. The three of us watch in disbelief as this tank who suddenly has all this newfound courage to pull large, just runs right off the map and into the void.

And then the three of us start howling with laughter. The chat is filled with "oh my god"s and "lol"s and Selli and I are both laughing so hard we're crying. Tank just sheepishly says, "Well. I guess I can't hide the fact that I'm new after that." I'm tanking the trash and Selli is spam healing me so the SMN/RDM gets the tank up and we finish the dungeon with no issues.

...Thinking about it still makes me laugh.

Shinryu Ex for farm. After the obligatory macro from either the tanks or healers for positioning, another dps indicated his preferred position to be the same as mine after I indicated mine, and stayed quiet..... For some weird reason, I been encountering more players who just decided that it is ok to state taken positions and wait for the original taker to adjust to them -_-. Said ninja just wailed on the boss, ignore the heart and get hit by icicles....

Ran an antitower last night with my wife, we had a kind healer lalafell in the run and another awesome tank as well, at the end the healer hoped Brina would drop and it did so we let the healer get the minion because she wanted it.

It's not much of a story but it always warm my heart when i can make someone happy with things like that. It was a very pleasant run.

Had a SMN in OS3 practice party today who refused to accept a raise if they died after someone else's mistake...

Totally different game, but that sounds a lot like somebody I knew in WoW at Legion launch. We're learning Emerald Nightmare Heroic, this Hunter in my guild REFUSED to move for mechanics, so other people got him killed very often. He got incredibly pissy when we brought this up to him and tried to help him, even left the guild outright... Which guaranteed he lost his spot on the mythic team. He later rejoined, found out he wasn't on the team, then bailed on the guild with over 100 other members who weren't even raiding with us



So on the subject of FFXIV... Why do SCH I get in O3S use Excog outside of tank busters?! Why am I getting them for Folio or Ninjas?! That Excog sure woulda been helpful during the Crit Hits I'm using Holmgang on!

Had an interesting moment during a non-clear run in Rabanastre today (I eventually finally cleared it). During one of Hashmal’s Earth Hammers, I run to the safe side of the map and throw up a Collective Unconscious. Now, I’m used to putting it up for huge attacks and stack markers, and then immediately casting an AOE heal, because in literally all of my time as an AST, nobody stays inside of it once an attack in finished. So that’s my mindset.

But then my party chat starts blowing up, essentially telling me ‘no, no, leave it up. We need the heals.’

Now, the strange thing is, I was a Noct AST, the WHM had thrown up a Medica II…what was the problem? I haven’t really ever had a problem with dropping my Collective Unconscious to toss out a huge heal, not even in Susano Ex after the sword phase. Does that even work, staying in CU?

I was doing Garuda HM through the trial roulette as PLD and go OT. I'm doing my RoH combo spam as normal and accidentally stole aggro from our better geared WAR tank. The dude starts getting pissed and told me "If you want the aggro so bad take it". I'm joking around about it telling him "Not my fault I burst so hard" but then he complains that I'm spamming my aggro combo. I'm level 50. I don't have Goring Blade or Royal Authority at that level.

Every time Skalla comes up to mind I shudder, because I spent 4 days on that dungeon desperately trying to get the new healer's top, cuz it's actually kinda cute. It was a tedious farmfest, even though I had fast healer's ques, I think I ran it about 50-60 times before the healer's top finally dropped y-day evening. ;-;

Apart from my obvious zero luck in it (like every other top dropped at least 4 times during it, or zillion of pants did), there was one bot drk we had (reported) and then an army of plds who clemency themselves on 90 % of health, or do that even to dps. I mean... mate. I won't let you die, the fact I do holy or spam stone when your hp is perfectly fine is actually good, you know? I mean I am helping But the amount of self-healing tanks that really, really don't need to self heal at barest scratch was about 90 %. I'd understand if I let them drop very low every time, but 90 % hp up and they heal themselves like crazy (not even for divine veil or something) is kind of annoying :/ I swear I am perfectly able to heal and dps at the same time.

Oh, and there was one gem of a tank that decided to use the Passage of arms (?) 70 lvl pld sklil, the flashy one, on big pulls in a fashion of standing there, eating every aoe as long as the passage was active. I mean... is that a thing?
