Some things need to be done alone. Working at it generally gets it done. Expecting others to do it for you isn't an answer in this game or in the real world too. Oddly enough our OP did manage to get it done.
i was editing my post.re-read it before assuming things like the other 2.
most mmo have solo content team mates can join on. It isn't always about "doing it for ppl" but simply joining them and doing it together. they can easily raise the difficault with more ppl.
soloing in an mmo doesn't make u better, knowing good team synergy does. options are nice as well.
how someone chooses to beat solo content doesn't effect you in any way. those who learn will learn.

We have plenty of content we do together. We have very little solo content and I think it's a good thing to keep it. Solo'ing in an MMO does make you better, it forces you to actually be good at what you do. There is very little in this game that stops people from progressing. It's fine just the way it is in my view.
How does this type of solo content force you to be better if you play a group/raid healer? We have plenty of content we do together. If your chosen role through the game is healing, whether in light party groups or full raids?
In fact this type of solo instance is the opposite of your chosen play style.
The option of inviting assistance to these types of instances would be precisely that - an option. If the person wanted to run it solo, then of course go ahead. If however, you turn around and say 'if the option's there then of course I'd use it' - well what happened to your insisting on solo only stance?
This game, like others - probably more so as it's repeat subscription based - needs to retain people in the face of many other offerings out there. We see posts asking the devs for this and for that - all these costs money, either directly or indirectly. And the money stream is the player base.
Consequently, I'm not in favour of a forced mechanic where the player feels isolated with no possibility of assistance.
As some posters have brought up - not everyone playing has the sharpest eyes and reactions - time, life, or just inherited physical conditions can have that effect.
These players probably won't get near end game savage or similar, they are just playing for the love of the story and also for the other less high end activities.
Should we encourage a mechanic in a group based mmorpg that offers no possibility of in game assistance for these people?

its an mmo, as in MULTIPLAYER it should be up to the digression of the players to solo content or not.
soloing doesn't help you be good as soloing and group play are not the same. It shows in this game when people step on each other toes and bully people. Can't tell you how often i see people "solo" group dungeons by doing their own thing with lil to no communication only to get uppity when it falls apart or wipes are caused by said actions. in my view there is too much solo content. If you want to solo, go for it. But why scoff at an option for people to play together?
heck eso did the forced solo thing, and they fixed it with 1 tamerial. I can't tell you how often ppl complain about the forced solo when questing with friends.
I rather people know how to work as a TEAM to benefit one another and learn how to use their TEAM skills, instead of "being good" at solo dpsing.
