    SCHOLAR 4 LIFE ^^

Before I bought FFXIV, back before ARR launch, I decided that I'd level SCH first. I was originally choosing between BRD and SCH but I found out BRD was a DPS and that was that. I chose SCH over WHM because it was a pet class ^^ As much as I've learned to hate Eos, I love her too XD

When they announced AST I got really excited because I usually play more support type classes instead so after I did the HW MSQ I levelled it and mained it for a while but I played SCH once after that and it felt great. The best way to describe it is that it felt like coming home. I just felt like letting out a contented sigh. Same thing happened with RDM (it's my fave FF job ever but I DO prefer healing XD) and when I quit my static, I started playing scholar more and it just felt nice.
I still play AST a lot because it's just so fun and it's good to mix it up. By now though, SCH is so familiar as well that it's just good to play ^^

WHM though... I can't explain why but I didn't like it in ARR. I just didn't like the way it felt and quite honestly that's my healer with the highest party member mortality rate XD I levelled it in ARR simply to have both healers and then I did the same in HW and now SB but it's definitely my least played of the 3. It's just the feel of it more than anything (but I do LOVE that AF1 body piece). As others have said, I do like the twirling as well and that's why I like verholy so much on RDM XD

*sits down next to you* Hi there! I’m Kacho Nacho. You make healing on an astrologian sound so interesting! Would you mind going more into your kit allowing you to do things you are not meant to do? I'll share my freshly baked oatmeal cookies with you. *smile*

That’s exactly how I feel except for me it is white mage and red mage. Both feel like “home.”

I like scholars too. In fact, I am leveling two scholars on and off right now. Eos and Selene are great companions and it’s been a lot of fun; but, when I switch to white or red mage it’s like putting on a big, comfortable jacket. It feels so good! *laughs*

Forgive for not being able to tell if that is sarcasm or not, because I deal with a lot of snarky people on a daily basis, given that I hold dissenting views.

If you actually meant it though, I appreciate the interest. Without going into a full-blown essay, what I mean by "not meant to do" is basically doing content in ways that SQEX did not design them for. What I'm probably best known for drawing examples from would be 4-player MinIL Royal Menagerie. I've also recently tried Tankless 4-player Synced Ultima's Bane, which was also quite fun. These are examples of fights where the healer and/or party has to deal with mechanics in very odd or excessive ways in order to succeed. AST's Earthly Star and Lightspeed are exceptionally useful in dealing with bursts of damage that are meant to be duo-healed, or when the healer is forced to deal with a movement-based mechanic where the healing would otherwise be covered by the second healer, etc. The cards are also extremely helpful because they can be held on to in order to cheese various mechanics. For instance, surviving a mechanic that is would ordinarily be impossible by using an enhanced Bole on a player. The Spear card was one of the best with regards to dealing with unconventional challenges because it allowed AST to reduce its own cooldowns virtually at will (assuming you prioritized and held Spear as needed). This allowed for AST (or other classes, if necessary) to get around cooldown checks or to simply have cooldowns up more often when dealing with unpredictable mechanics (which was largely the case in 4-player RM, for example).

Other healing classes have tools for most things at their disposal as well, but I personally think AST is the best for dealing with unconventional things. The cards, in particular, are unique to AST and offer a lot of flexibility.

*laughs* Oh, forgive me. I forgot not everyone knows me on the forums. If I was being sarcastic, I'd have noted it in my post.

    Now, moving onward...

I am genuinely interested in your thoughts. It's fun to do things outside the box. It really makes you think!

In fact, I feel that in the Training Grounds everyone should have the pleasure of facing a scenario which requires you to do things in a unconventional way to succeed. That's just me. *sigh*
