there are lots of houses owned by 1 person FC alts.
But where do you draw the line? While I'm an independent here on WoW I have a small family and friend guild. On good day there are four of us and it isn't uncommon for us at times to drop to two active characters. Would we be any less deserving than a large FC? I don't think we should be.

I also have a private house which I like quite a bit. There is no reason I should not be able to keep it. There is no fix for the housing problem with the current architecture. It is constrained due to SE's stubbornness at not wanting to admit they made a major mistake with their implementation. They could resolve it if they would drop this whole neighborhood idea but until they do housing will remain a cluster !$%& no matter what.

yes, mathematically you are less deserving than a large FC. if there's only 2 active characters that use your FC house, your airships, your chocobo stable, your garden plots, that's less than a Free Company that has 50+ active subscribers using a similar sized plot. how can that even be a question?

they drew the line at forming companies with is it 3 or 4 players in total? that should be the minimum to buy small plots (active within the last 30 days). medium would require more (8 maybe?), large would require even more (24?). if the number falls below that amount the demolition timer would start.

it would be very difficult to take stuff away. i would only apply it going forward to new wards and plots that get reclaimed.

and why are you contradicting yourself? so they come out and admit they made a mistake then what? that's not a solution. if they abandon neighborhoods, you lose your private house which you "like quite a bit". i also don't believe dropping neighborhoods will give them the ability to generate instance housing for every player and free company with more than 5 million gil.

No contradiction at all. If you have followed many of the housing threads out there you will see I am a proponent of going to an entirely instanced housing system. To maintain what I have all SE would have to do is add the exterior to the existing interior instance. It would also allow an upgrade path to larger houses, an ability to pick your views and an increase in exterior items. I don't know about you but I consider all of those as gains not losses. As far as visitations or other events, other games have managed to handle it and have much more active housing scenes than FF XIV can claim with its wards devoid of players.

    How about instanced FC housing?
Start off with a single instanced small plot and the FC can upgrade it to larger sizes if they desire. Even possibly give crafters more stuff to make and create an XL format only available through this for an FC. Most housing zones have unused doors that could be access points from the current residential areas.

Bear in mind I'm proposing the entire plot instanced. Indoor and outdoor
This is what I have been proposing for the entire housing system.
