SE, it is time to speak up

I seriously cannot believe that you people keep defending SE over this stuff. They are a multi-billion dollar company. FFXIV is easily one of their highest-drawing games, even among the Final Fantasy IP.

That doesn't mean anything. SE is not a high profile company simply because they only make Final Fantasy games and products. They have many franchises under their belt and are also a publishing and distributing company outside of video games. As such, it's not like a billion dollars is going to be allocated to FFXIV every fiscal year... or ever in the history of the game... any game. Hell, I'd argue even asking for a million more than they normally get is extremely unlikely for no good reason (housing is not a good reason unless you can prove to the board that it will affect their bottomline so greatly at that time).

That said however, it does NOT mean SE can't afford to focus their efforts more to remedy the problem. They can, and honestly should (soon), as the impact of the problem is now building to the point of affecting everyone noticeably and a long period of time has passed with no meaningful improvements since it started. I'm just pointing out that the companies worth often does not mean as much when it comes to these things.

How about not opening house auctions until later in the day, when people have finished patching and logging into the game. Or maybe opening wards in order as they fill themselves, instead of all 12 at once.

I agree with this statement. If their going to keep running housing this way. Put a timer on the wards - say a few hours after the patch is released so the server doesn't get bottled necked by everyone trying to login at once to get a plot. It still not a fix to housing but it'll allow everyone who can get on that day to try for a plot rather then not getting a chance at all because their crappy servers can't handle the login load.

Although I’m on a low population server the houses had all gone by yesterday evening. I was extremely lucky and was able to get my FC house the night before Shirogane housing was released, in the area that my hubby had his sights set on. However, I want everyone to be able to have an opportunity to have a house and all the benefits that come with it, and I just can’t understand why SE haven’t done anything about this sooner considering how long this issue has been going on. Some people have mentioned that house owners should pay rent for their homes, there is a similar system like that adopted in lotro, you buy your house, pay rent, the large houses were for your fellowship (guild) only and if you failed to maintain your house you lost it. Also like others have said, lotro would automatically create housing areas when the others were full up. That way it gave everyone the option that wanted it, to own their own home. It worked wonderfully and if SE implemented it here then everyone’s got the opportunity to own a house. I’ve never understood why SE are so hell bent on making some players go without, I don’t this it’s fair and I agree with everyone, SOMETHING needs to be done.

I suppose the complaints then would be about the NPC not loading, people with faster PCs/Videocards having an advantage, and those classes with several movement skills that can dash you ahead. Because I would have loved to have seen a race between the 4k people waiting at that dock.

So why aren't you people who are upset commenting on review/retailer sites. If you are unwilling to speak with wallet the second best thing is to voice your displeasure at current status quo. Shirogane was shown as part of Stormblood. You bought Stormblood and can not access this feature through no fault of your own. If you wait for a real response without acting you only have yourself to blame.

they just should do 24 wards than only 12.^^ sure it iwll not be enough either. but still helps alot and more houses to get by inactivity from other player.

Still only 5,760 houses. The issue would persist.

Of course they can never afford anything. It is always the evil accounting overlords and never the devs fault. Maybe they shouldn't have spent building a new district, increasing item placement, and transfers until they can fix the first problem first. It is great for people that have a house that they spend time on it. Sure doesn't help the people who have nothing. But I am sure it is always the accounts fault. If only they had millions of more dollars we could have another 1.o.

I really wish people would cease giving Square Enix a pass on the shortage of housing just because upgrading the servers would be 'expensive'.

that only shifts the crashing of the log-in servers to the crashing of Kugane and the Housing zones. so many people would camp those areas that those areas would go down.

if you thought Ixion was bad, you haven't seen anything yet.

this suggestion is not a better solution. the problem is the supply is too low for the demand.

If it is two barely noticeable content why even put it in the trailer? Why are people even upset? Do you think the team cares at this point what people say on the forums about housing? We have been here over and over, It is over it is not going to change in the next two years(probably). So everyone says don't sub that is an option. Another option is to make your voice heard in alternate venue. Other games have mentioned how ratings and sales after initial sales are important.

Also who are you or me to judge what is important to other players. I don't go and say "ultimate extreme hard mode" is a waste of time. That would affect someones rating.

While I don't know work allocation. It sure has been implied that the people do more then one thing. I am going to go on a limb and say the housing design people probably have skills that help other teams. I am not saying the graphics team is working on something they don't know. But they could be doing something else besides housing. All we ever hear is never enough staff, but maybe they do have an over abundance of graphic designers and they have nothing better to do then housing.
