It's absolutely pathetic. ESO, Wildstar, Black Desert, all Free to Play MMOs have a better housing system than FFXIV.
EverQuest (which is almost NINETEEN YEARS OLD), EverQuest 2, Lord of the Rings Online, RIFT, even bloody Ragnarok Online (which is pixeled and isometric graphics!)......I can absolutely keep going, but I shouldn't have to. The fact that an endless number of MMOs, all of which are now free to play, have either acceptable, on par, or mind-blowingly massive and amazing housing systems, where anyone can get a house, period, if they earn it, but FFXIV, one of only two pay to play MMOs that matter anymore, can't? Is beyond unacceptable. It's disgusting, and the devs should be ashamed for creating a system so broken, and those holding the purse strings saying they can't afford more servers for new wards should be ashamed for pushing the game farther and farther into dangerous territory by making the player base feel ignored and rejected.

I already know half a dozen players who quit completely because or partially because, of the housing issues. Now, four of them had other reasons involving Balmung's overpopulation and congestion, but the housing was a HUGE part of it.

Every time something this huge, that so many people feel so passionate about happens, where scalpers are profiting off of sheer dumb luck and our hard work, where the devs & producers blatantly ignore us and refuse to allow millions of us access to a MAJOR part of the game because of the stupidest possible reasons, they tell the community: "We don't listen to you. We don't care about you. We're going to do what we want, and you can deal with it."

And it is *pathetic.* The fact that originally? The Yo-Kai event was supposed to make the weapons super exclusive, so that you couldn't get them all, but they bent on that, okay, a CROSSOVER WITH ANOTHER SERIES NOT OWNED BY SQUARE, they decided was worth making things not-exclusive, but a HOUSE, a basic part of the game, that shouldn't be exclusive in ANY SANE WAY because you know, we're the WARRIOR OF LIGHT, is deemed "exclusive" to special people? Come the heck on.

And apartments will NEVER be an answer. The fact that they acted like they were is insane. And they're going to screw themselves by shoving their player base right out of the game.

Exactly this. They couldn't even figure out how to let us log back into our apartments when we log in. FREE INNs do this. But our 500,000 gil apartments can't? Man gtfo with that. EQ2 had fantastic housing and that came out in 2004. You saw it in the city when you walked by, you clicked on the door, boom your beautiful (and mine was full of pets and paintings I made) housing was right there. But you had to pay mortgage/rent for it. In a variety of ways even.

This will never change. They don't want it to change. SO we just get to sit and ride the salt wave with every expansion because they're not going to listen to us.

Do or do not, there is no try.
