I am just going to repost this here.

Really, the fact that people can defend this housing system absolutely astonishes me.

It has nothing to do with dedication.
It has nothing to do with how much gil you have; how much you have made.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to luck. I was ready and waiting at 5:00am CST on the dot--a friend and I both--and we were hit with lobby server errors just trying to get to the data center, and a 1,600 queue. I had all the dedication in the world; we both had all the dedication in the world. But dedication doesn't save you from lobby server errors. Dedication does not save you from the launcher log in button NOT RESPONDING FOR A FULL 2 MINUTES. Dedication doesn't save you from poor server infrastructure. Dedication doesn't save you from a 1,600 player queue that you wouldn't have had if the game had not crashed, and the launcher not froze up. And this was not an isolated event either, nor was it related to poor internet.

This is a complete embarrassment, and the developers should be ashamed to continue to implement such poor systems. And people that support it--that want to support the "specialness" and "exclusivity" of this housing system--are not any better. This would not be a problem if SE would just admit that this housing system is extremely flawed, and scrap it complete. Move to instanced housing. I don't know how to make this any more clear to the developers:

This housing system is god awful, and you should be ashamed to continue to do NOTHING about it. And no, apartments are NOT the answer to a house. They never were.
