    $12,95 a month?

I don't even make that amount in a month.

    $12.95 maybe.

Satire aside, I'm having a great deal of trouble taking the OP seriously as a consumer. It seems as if the entirty of 'the important announcement of FFXIV's Future.' was glazed over completely in the wake of 'oh my gawd, I have to pay moneyz!'

There has been a relative bombardment of information coming out. And I'm not sure if it's an issue that the info is hard to digest, or just only looking at the game's community intermittently and just reading on some random game site the buzz about having to pay for a game still in redevelopment. But it seems like the thread creator has made his decision more out of reactive emotion than an informed and calculated one.

I'm going to list out the answer to the most basic question here: "[I'm paying]$12.95 a month for what?"

What you get, for sticking on, and paying the subscription fee (which looks like won't be $12.95):

    - A direct witness to the update process that will transition the engine and game mechanics from where it is now, to 2.0
    - A storyline quest events (both battle and otherwise) unique only to this transitional period.
    - Unique Gear and Achievement rewards.
    - Possible Unique mount.
    - A ready-made character at appropriate level, skills, (and quested Job Abilities) transferred directly from where you left of. (You'll be more prepared if you stay than if you go.)
    - Establishing yourself already with a community group going into 2.0

So essentially, you're paying for a leg up for the new start, a unique story, and moments of that said story. This is on top of being on board for first feedback as the new changes roll in.

    And a small side note:

An MMO is always in transition. There's always some features that we believe should never be in the game, or should be up to 'The Standard.' Yoshi-P has been careful in his timing that pretty much the most basic functions one would expect in the genre are there before asking for a payment, and SE's president has gone as far as to discuss a lower cost for subscription until the release.

If your issues with the game is more fundamental in the direction it is taking, then there's no answer for you. Perhaps you are just not cut out for the MMO field or how Square Enix as a company interpenetrates that, which is fine. Please, however, do not pretend that this company is not listening to its base: That was FFXI's greatest error more than anything else in my view, and the turnabout to this policy came too late.

The new development team is taking FFXIV in a good direction, in my opinion, and I'm willing to pay to be a part of the process, and to experience the unique story. If you don't that's fine, you're not alone. Whether or not Square Enix should place value in your self proclaimed '20 years of loyaly' is not my call to make.

However I view as if there has been plenty of outreach on their behalf.

To be quite honest i was only here for the communities within the game & the FF feeling when you engage in the lore, cinematics , epic fights .... I didn't even mind so much that they released FFXIV 2 years earlier than it should have been. I also didn't mind having payed 65$ for a pre-beta game. However , i absolutely refuse to pay a monthly fee for something that isnt even half ready for presentation.

That being said i'll be leaving til 2.0 or Maybe indefinitely or maybe til their next MMO we'll see. unless SE has some sort of stroke of brilliance on their part and somehow realize what they are doing will kill what little they've got, im done. I have multiple R50's, crafts, gear, whatever dosnt matter just to show im not just talking from beneath the lvl 20 cap like most ragequitters, ive seen what FFXIV has to offer in and out... It took a lot of pondering but in the end, i wont pay for something i can't fully enjoy, or something i WANT to enjoy but can't to its fullest capacity.

A feeling of sickness comes over you when you see a screenshot with someone holding 1000million gil in their inventory. Broken mechanics have ruined the game long before they tried to fix it, thats aside from all the players who exploited the aoe heal glitch and capped their jobs to 50 near 1.1. The economy for the longest time was also based on crafting for cheap & NPCing goods for large sums of gil and at very fast rates creating big gil fluxes making botters top gil makers in your economy in turn selling the currency or just buying everything they desired at rediculous prices making crafters rich, making everyone richer. Inflation seems nice but it is the enemy not your friend anyone playing FFXI in 2006 knows this, every single peice of decent gear was out of reach for any aspiring players. the time frame for obtaining them through monetary ways was like climbing mount everest.

So i would rather pay 12,95 for FFXIV the way it was on release day than where it is now. Sad you would say? Glitches & bad planning did not ruin the game on release day, leaving things the way they were is what did. SE should have known from its past errors in FFXI not to re-commit to the same mistakes. yet they turned around and created juggernauts with un-rivaled economic power, introduced a very poor crafting system - reinvented it & then dated all the time and effort we had put in our old +3 items. ( IE dated Crab bow +3) This is like wow releasing an expansion and forcing people to tier up their gear to reach the new standard. something i always frowned upon, however FFXIV just did it without any apparent event , expansion , NOTHING. FNM< drops are worthless now? what if people payed 10mil for bucc? least they could have done is allow them to be socketed, they are only RARE, no SE is not that nice.

Anyways, asking us to pay for this sum of garbage is just not what i could call a smart move. AT LEAST wait til PS3 "RELEASE" til you charge us your players. FFXIV IS NOT EVEN OUT ON PS3 THIS IS A BETA YOU ARE CHARGING US FOR...

It's sad that it has come to this but, Sayanara, maybe til the next FF title, maybe til 2.0 who knows, they said they have another MMO in the works. I am very unimpressed with their latest call in FFXIV, could maybe lose my business forever, 20 yrs of customer reliability. Peace Outtie.
you mean the missing...oops i mean exclusive content is not enough to keep you around? you mean the character head start and the bragging rights of "you played a broken game 2 years before they fixed it" is not a great enough accomplishment to justify paying full sub? man what is wrong with you.

my house is in rebuilding stage. this house is very small and in unpopular area.
the roof, floors, plumbing, and gas are all broke.
my landlord fired the original crew. for not completing the job on time
the new crew comes in and makes all kinds of promises, and shows me pics.
now for next year i have to wait for them to finish the job.
should I move to a more popular, bigger house rent it for same price?
or stay in the part of my house that is not being rebuilt. but still pay same rent as others.

OMG LOGIC, logic has no place on these forums, but joking aside this is why you are paying, when your friends come for the ps3 release and they ask omg how do i get that sexy glowing sword you can say hahahaha you cant, it is a trophy from my valiant protection of Eorzea during the dread of the 7th umbral era. Or what about "omg how do I get that mount" then you say "you cant, it was a reward from my company for destroying the Garlemald forces at the battle of Ishgard (random name cos we dont know whats coming, but a battle of Ishgard before it opens its gate would be awesome)

    irongripz,

To evade a negative discussion, I'd like to ask what keeps you on board these forums. Sarcasm does not seem to be your true intention of pastime, unless personal venting has some sort of aims here. And I would like to have you on board with more constructive conversation.

Being asked to wait until the 2.0 Patch aside, why do you hold a bias against the current existing content? Is it simply not enough? Or is there something more fundamental that you want to experience that is lacking?

There should be room for mature discourse here, particularly when it comes to individual preferences as to what is 'enough'. And what about it you see now, and in the current known 2.0 that does not match that.

yes it's like SE stating that u can get a reward but u need to do 20 chocobo races in ffxi, or have to fight 100fights in there garbage Colosseum. forcing people to run to every crystal that the only point of getting there ..is getting there is pointless. it may be fun to some, just as it might be fun to do dungeons, but even they have bad rewards ..so why do them. just for the sake of it doesn't work for most people.

the part bout materia i was simply making a joke that no gear is better then crafted materia ...so why should rewards from over rated trophy system be better. other then maybe being used as a way to give players who stayed the whole year some gifts, but if i stayed an was forced to do these for my reward i'd be even more pissed off in first place.

In some parts of the world, a comma is used instead of a period to denote the decimal place. Try to remember these are the English forums, not the American ones.

The thing about crafted meteria, in my view, is that it comes at a far greater risk.

You do say, a Primal Fight. Once you know that strategy, it's no longer a risk. It's a time investment. You fight, you win, you sit at the lottery hoping for your chance loot drop.

Meteria, you have to break an item to get a CHANCE for the Meteria you want. Then you have to risk the item you want (which may already have meteria attached) on top of the meterial your trying to socket in, for a chance to meld them together. Failure results in the loss of all that luck and work. Where as failure in a mission fight results in a "oh, try again!" which would be no different than botching your RNG in getting the item in the first place.

I can see why Crafted Meteria items are better.

Perhaps you're implying, weeble, that the low risk scenario of working on achievements, fights/raids, and missions should have better rewards than the larger potential time loss due to crafting or buying a desired meteria, then crafting or buying the armor you want to socket, then risking both trying to get the 'better' armor you want.

Honestly I think you're going to find that a vast majority of players are going to be walking around with their non-crafted loot a whole lot while 'trying' for their so called crafted bests.

Noted, this is the first time I have heard of a comma being used as a decimal point, however. My apologies for not knowing that. The jest at the confusion, however stands, as these boards are predominantly North American dialect.

Just out of curiosity, what area uses a coma for a decimal?

If past is prophecy, you better be careful what you wish for there, bucko. Yoshi-P might pull a reversal of gender rules on you and make the best Male Armor scream of 12's homo-erotica.
