Veteran Reward changes - Big slap in the face for long time vets?

I think the system change did not stripped nothing from the old rewards. They are just handled to us in a different way.

Of course, we still have to see the item pricing, but I'm mostly sure we can get everything again just playing the game with the new character we made. A ton of achievements will came by themselves just doing it.

To me, the change feels like:

Instead of give you everything on moogle mail to your level 1 character, you will able to get all that again but over time and playing your character in game.

Sorta of "ok, you made a new character, but please use it and play the game with it, to get all your stuff again".

So, I feel not deprived of anything. On top of that, our main today already have all the stuff and with the new system, we will start with all the achievement points still to spend for the newer stuff that have to come, and on this matter we old players still are a step ahead (because new players will have to spend their points to get the stuff we already have) and the "feeling special" some guy wants, still apply.

That means it's retroactive, since you have been subbed for 3+ years you qualify to get the items as soon as the patch hits.

This means veterans will keep receiving old rewards whenever they create an alt, whereas new players will have to buy them from the AP shop, as APs aren't exactly easy to get on new characters vets have a huge advantage here.

You should get it on patch day (or a few days after that) as you will only need 330 cummulative subscription days and you already have 1350 (1440 ./. 90).

Alts will still get all of the items that you got prior to the change. It's only new players who haven't gotten these items, i.e. new accounts, that will have to earn them through achievements. Veterans will get one extra fantasia on alts once they finish 2.0 MSQ. You will get the old veteran reward as soon as you create your alt, and then upon finishing 2.0 you will get a brand new fantasia. If you bought HW CE, that will net you 3 free fantasias in total on an alt. Us veterans have nothing to whine about.

Fly the Falcon campaign was more proof of this. If you never unsubbed, you were dead last to get your Falcon. Unless you leveled an alt on a road to 60 server to get the free play time, then you don't get the Falcon at all because it pushed your renewal past the campaign time frame.

Not true. I have been continously subbed since I started playing FFXIV, and I got free time from leveling an alt on a new server. I got my Falcon some weeks ago.

You most likely have a 180 day sub. I have a 30 day sub and didn't get my mount in September. I leveled an alt on a new server for free days and had to buy a game time card for the difference or I wouldn't receive my mount in the second run.

Going from loyalty rewards ending at four years to capping at one year is a good change to be honest. However I do find it a bit irritating that they're not offering people who have subbed for longer than that something.
Free fantasia for every year after the first? A tiny amount of crysta to spend on some mogstation trinkets?

I doubt anyone subbed for the rewards, but I know people who definitely didn't cancel their sub during down time so they could get a little closer to one they wanted.

However, I'm downright bitter over the free fantasia being given out for completing the MSQ now. That should be retroactive for everyone in my opinion. If anything, that is a slap in the face to long time subscribers the most.

While I have little to no issue with the changes themselves, I'd have to agree about the fantasia. Should be for everyone, at least on patch day. Maybe attach a "you have 30 days to receive your free fantasia" or something like that to it.

Doesn't that one just replace the one given out as a veteran reward? Meaning you got yours a long time ago. In fact, because new characters (it seems) will keep receiving all the old veteran rewards, you'll be getting two on any new characters you create.

For Players Who Have Already Received Rewards

These changes will have no effect on players who have already met the requirements to obtain the items listed above, as well as those no longer available as veteran rewards after patch 4.1. Newly created characters on the same account will continue to receive any items for which they were eligible prior to the update.

Items Previously Available as Veteran Rewards

With the exception of aetheryte tickets, all items no longer available as veteran rewards can now be obtained through in-game means.

Items obtained only through veteran rewards
Starting in Patch 4.1, players will be able to use their achievement points to purchase achievement certificates by speaking with Jonathas in Old Gridania (X:10.6 Y:6.3).Certificates can then be used to purchase rewards of your choosing. The number of certificates in your possession can be confirmed via the Achievements window.

Phial of Fantasia
A phial of Fantasia has been added as a reward for the main scenario quest “The Ultimate Weapon.”
* Players who have already completed this quest are ineligible to receive a phial of Fantasia.

All of these items will be removed from the list of veteran rewards, when 4.1 hits next week. From what i can gather from the Lodestone article, is that all of the items (Minions, Bardings, Mounts, Housing items and Headgear) will be obtainable through in-game means. The only exception to the rule, would be the Aetheryte Tickets but you can already buy those with Grand Company Seals.

When it comes to the Phial of Fantasia, it will also be removed from the list of Veteran rewards, so new players starting from the moment that Patch 4.1 is released would only be able to get one through the “The Ultimate Weapon” Main scenario quest. I recon that you won't be able to buy those with the "achievement certificates", since they sell those on the Mog station too. The only situation i can think of, that could give the players an additional Phial of Fantasia would be that they:

• Started playing the game before the release of 4.1
• Subscribed for longer than 30 days and got the rewards from the first Veteran Reward rank
• Didn't finish the “The Ultimate Weapon” Main scenario quest before Patch 4.1
• Finish the “The Ultimate Weapon” Main scenario quest after patch 4.1 is released

That way, people would theoretically get an additional Phial of Fantasia. The only thing that could counter that scenario, is the paragraph listed under the "For Players Who Have Already Received Rewards"-section:

These changes will have no effect on players who have already met the requirements to obtain the items listed above, as well as those no longer available as veteran rewards after patch 4.1. Newly created characters on the same account will continue to receive any items for which they were eligible prior to the update.

That would mean, that if you've already gotten the reward, the changes made to the veteran system wouldn't affect you.

Frankly, i don't really see this as a big slap in the face of the veteran players. Even if these players would get 1 additional Phial of Fantasia because of it.
