Having challenge levels to progress through with fun effects would make doing those dungeons way more fun and give friends more things to do together in this MMO, as well as give more incentive to gear up.
I only assumed you couldn't get that gear because you're in the 12th percentile on fflogs. Not that my logs are much better, sitting at around 30-40th percentile while running pug. Personally I don't find the dungeons interesting either, but I'd rather not take dev time away from savage, ex primals and other end-game content to rework old content.

I don't bother with fflogs. Current item level for my tank is 335 so I got quite a few of 340 stuff already

But back on topic. Mythic dungeons and that entire challenge/progression system was a massive success in WoW, it would imo be a better thing to implement than Ultimate Bahamut which will only reach a very small percentage of players instead of appealing to every skill level with increasing rewards based on how far you can get it. Ultimate Bahamut is more a waste of dev time considering how few people will actually get to beat that at all. The strict requirements alone so far tell me that much. Item level 340 being strongly recommended. How many people can you honestly say are that max geared, let alone getting a full group of those? Having O4S beaten is a little better as a requirement, but again that one also is like 20% of the playerbase or so currently if i'm not mistaken
