Goes both ways though - How many posts before someone made a comment to the effect of "lalas are the perfect master race etc."?
The answer is one, and that joke is exactly as old.

Except that joke isn't insulting someone elses character the way the potato jokes and other crap that people say about Lalas. I've actually had people try to kick me from a dungeon because I was a Lala, because Lalas are 'gross and deformed'.

    Its not funny anymore.

This is sort of extraneous but just wanted to point out that it is typical of JP people call chibis SD/super deformed lol. Lalas definitely qualify as SD.

Yeah, see, this makes you sound like an awful person. Trying to be edgy?

This is just as much "hearsay" as anything. The design documents and quotes in the artbook constantly reference the idea that Lalafell are supposed to be very childlike and cute in the same way as we view baby animals to be. (That's also why some of the sexier gear options are noticably different on Lalafell models. Squick factor.)

The potato and food thing likely stems for from the flavor text in game that talks about large monsters having no issue with using the spoken races as prey, especially the physically smaller Lalafell.

It's framed to be nightmarish and revolting that these creatures would hunt innocent people, yet, English speaking forum users thought it was funny. How?

Personally, I just chalk it up to comedic sociopathy and move on. Some jokes just never get old for some people. Koji's translations and a Lalafell's inherent humor factor (Lalapanic for example) don't really help either.
