In my mind going ps4->PC is just trading one set of problems for another.

The thing is, if you are signed in to PSN within 24 hours of Maintenance, you will never have an issue connecting to FFXIV. I generally use Rest Mode 100% of the time, so I'm never signed out of PSN. Signing into FFXIV does not become an issue at that point.

Exactly.
I did PC gaming for a few years. I kept a spare keyboard, mouse and graphics card. And don't get me started on driver conflicts.

You'll need a spare keyboard and mouse as much as you'll need a spare gamepad o.o and also you can use that gamepad on PC as well. About driver conflicts, never had any and I use pcs since windows 3.1, you just install what is needed and have fun. But yes i agree with you on the point that pcs does requires a little more knowledge than PS4 and not everyone wants to lose their time with that. Which is really a matter of choice, you lose customization but you get practicality.
Not saying that PS4 sucks, I have one and its awesome!!! but PS4 is nothing more than a branded PC and it's hardware can fail just like a PC, just do a google search or youtube search and you'll find a lot of ppl complaining about it. I'm actually one of the happy ppl that lost a PS4 in the past, but at least now I got a PS4PRO.
If your PS4 starts to sound like its struggling to get cool air then you need to get a vacuum hose and suck out the dust through all of the vent holes which should be done once a month. The best way to clean out your PS4 is to take off the cover + remove the heat plating inside and blow it out with an air can or suck up the dust with a vacuum.
ONLY TAKE APART YOUR PS4 IF YOU NO LONGER HAVE A WARRANTY AS THIS WOULD VOID YOUR WARRANTY. Also watch a video on how to take a PS4 apart so you don't screw up any ribbon cables or miss any screws. If you do take the PS4 apart please make sure you unplug the PS4 and move it to a table where there is no carpet like in the kitchen as static electricity can short out your board.
The PS4 is just like a PC and needs to be cleaned out monthly so your fans work as intended. If not you risk burning them out and causing your ps4 to over heat....

I've taken it apart and cleaned it a few times. The issue is that its a first generation ps4 that was left on for almost 2 years. The first generations especially had massively noisy af fans.
I still have my 1st gen PS4 and its still running w/out any issues. The fan is just as quiet as it was when I first turned it on. I turn it off when I am not using it for a good reason and I do monthly preventive maintenance which only takes 10 mins to do.
Every 3 months i go through old game and picture files and delete stuff I dont need any more. If you keep it clean it should last till its time to get the PS5.

Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.
Good for you. It must be impossible for any other ps4 users to have issues.
Here's a gold star.

I can't argue with your logic. I got all of my PC spare parts after a component failed. The same thing could happen with a console. I've just never had it happen. IRL RNG I guess.
