Taken character names

Not sure if this is in the right place, but, here it goes. Can you all look into implementing a system like the housing demolish for characters and character names. So many times i have tried name changes to something cute to no avail it was taken by a level 1 character. Implementing a loss of character function if the character is not above lvl 30 and active within the last 45 days. The only people this could possibly get angry are the jerks who lock namea and NEVER USE THEM thankies much love fro sargatanis.

Or those "jerks" that are in the service and have the unfortunate timing of being dispatched and won't be able to save their character.

I have to agree with QTMelon on this. I agree names should be freed up, but players already have to worry about being continually active if they have a house in game. How would you feel if you were forced by circumstance to step away from the game for an extended period of time, and when you got back, not only was your house gone but so is the awesome character name you've used for years? I don't think that would be a good feeling.

On the other hand, I do agree that a level 5 lala that hasn't been logged into since 2013 shouldn't be holding onto a name that an active player might really want for their character. Maybe un-used characters could be forced into a name change once every year or two.

Im strictly talking about clearly unplayed characters, are less than 30 dont advance story mostly level 1 characters. Characters with no playtime. I know the deployed struggle i have friends still in, i was in too at one point. But all thats not relevant cause i clearly said "a level 1 character" now i can see how how someone might be less than 30 and not active for 45 days and service members could fall in this category, but a safe guard could be implemented to protect those more invested characters. the targeted demographic of level 1-10 characters locking names that havent been played in year or more should reclaimed

You are contradicting yourself. Because your first post is not "strict" in the requirements.

Sorry, no. There is no good reason for a game to remove names from a character regardless of how long they have or haven't been played. Simply put, the only time there's a shortage of names is when you're trying to use something from a popular book/movie/anime/etc. There's plenty of cute names still available, put some creativity into it and come up with something unique; and if you're struggling, there are several name generators out there that will do all the work for you.

Star Wars: TOR did a name cleansing a few years ago. I dont know why this game can't either. If a character hasnt been active in a couple of years their names should be returned to the system. The character would still remain, but the name would be free.

Yea about that... or during a server merge... I lost my name to someone else when I had it 1st during alpha and beta...

Needless to say, thats why we have "last" names on the game which helps prevent loss. Granted... a level 1 char shouldnt keep the name if its never played..

Server merges is a different story. If there are names on level 1's that haven't been logged into, in 2-3 years, why should they still be taken? 45 days is way too extreme due to natural disasters, people being deployed overseas, etc. But 24-36 months? Without logging on once? That account is either dead, or the person doesnt play on that server. Ever.

Honestly, SW:tOR's name cleansing is a big reason I won't go back. I'm still salty over losing some great names to it.
