As for the issue of snow, they could have kept furniture unaffected (aside from light dusting, Ishgard itself doesn't have much snow coverage and it wouldn't appear that unnatural), perhaps placed housing towards the less snowy eastern highlands or even implemented apartments in the city, a compromise I'd have preferred than nothing at all. I just find it very strange to have skipped Ishgard entirely.

Players should be able to have the option to decorate their home in their preferred style and not be beholden by the districts available. Especially in this case, I don't think it unreasonable to ask that we have Ishgard themed-furniture equal to that of the existing areas - given its part in the MSQ and its new standing in the Eorzean Alliance, it's every bit as relevant as Riviera, Glade, etc.

I can't be certain without digging up the post again, but I'm pretty sure they were speaking about it making more sense logistic-wise rather than story-wise. They would rather have the new district near at hand to the quest hubs, vendors, hunt boards, etc. where everyone was going to be rather than making people teleport back and forth between the new zones and the old expansion. Hop in game and take a look at the number of people hanging out in Kugane compared to the Holy See and you'll see where the devs' reasoning comes from.

Again, this is all just what I've gathered about the devs' thought process, and it makes sense to me from an objective standpoint. Personally speaking, I don't have a horse in this race as the Mist continues to be my personal favorite district. I don't particularly care for the Shirogane aesthetic at all (aside from thinking the layout of the district itself is lovely) and I highly doubt that an Ishgard district would tempt me to move either, snow or no snow. Variety is nice, and I will always support more of anything to do with housing, but if it came down between having to choose between one or the other, in this particular case I think it was logical to go with the district that is located in the newest expansion rather than an old one.

A big problem with people not hanging out in Ishgard compared to Kugane is because Ishgard is lacking a lot of the amenities that all the rest of the city states have. There is no sightseeing log, no company chest, etc. In addition, the location of the marketboard (and to a lesser extent, hunt board and leves) in Ishgard is too far for the lazy player, which is the same reason you see less people in Gridania compared to Limsa.

Also weebs. Never forget the power of the weebs.

I would hate to see Ishgard forever forgotten to the passage of time, especially if we get housing zones for each new expansion. I'm not asking for it any time soon, but I think it will leave a bad taste in a bunch of people's mouths if we start getting Garlean, Meracydian, and Sharlayan housing with expansions if Stormblood is anything to look at.
