    Ishgardian Housing/ Items

Will we ever see more on this? The original three city states have their own housing wards, furniture and glamour options, and soon Kugane will have its own housing district, whereas Ishgard, where we spent almost the entirety of 3.0, feels oddly missed out. Ishgard felt more like home to me than anywhere else, and I'd love a house there someday.

But even if it were to happen, since it will inevitably take a while, I have some requests in the interim:

    - Please put a company chest in the Pillars. Even Kugane has one. The empty spot near the materia melder and the marketboard would be perfect.
    - Though we've already had a few Fortemps/ Alpine pieces already, more basic Ishgardian-themed furniture would be nice - e.g. the sofas/ chairs/ fireplace in Fortemps manor, matching flooring, dragon statues, braziers for outside, the constellation chart and star lamps from the AST guild, portraits/ sketches of HW characters, a shield to hang on the wall, etc.
    - HW sightseeing log pictures for picture frames. Again, Stormblood's areas are available, but HW has been missed.
    - Ishgardian glamour for women! We have the male equivalent from the MSQ, but it would be great to have the option the female NPCs wear.

More than anything, it would be great if we could add more HW flair to our homes in the absence of actual housing. Please, SE!

It was stated in some Live Letter somewhere (sorry, I'm in too much of a hurry this morning to look up which, but feel free to do so) that Ishgard housing district isn't going to be happening any time soon. They said that they had been considering it, but with HW wrapping up and the story moving away from Ishgard, it didn't make sense to put in the time and effort to make housing there rather than the new area where everyone would be going (i.e. Shirogane.) I think there was also some vague reference to them not liking the idea of a district that was covered in snow (something about it not working with the outdoor housing items already in game- flower beds in bloom, trees in full leaf, etc.) and that they might revisit the idea if the weather in Coerthas were to change back to normal.

As for furniture, I am always for more items and variety but, objectively speaking, it makes sense that they put more effort into producing things to match the districts we actually have rather than making a bunch of stuff to match an aesthetic that we may or may not never end up getting.

Since 'Ishgardian clothing for men' can already be worn by female characters (but not, that I recall, female NPCs), I trust that the last request is for the items to be released unisex?

(Still annoyed that they created this situation yet again by making the male version unisex instead of giving the ladies their dress at a sensible time for it.)

Idunno how it is for Shirogane, but, lore-wise, does it really make sense to have Ishgardian housing? The first three were all about providing incentives for adventurers to stick around the city-states, but Ishgard's closed door policy seems kinda counterproductive to that.

While you aren't wrong about the original Ishgardian attitude, if housing there were only unlocked after completing the patch 3.3 MSQ it would make sense without requiring any hand-waving at all. After coming to power, Ser Aymeric has been pretty intent on opening up Ishgard and strengthening ties with the other nations of the Eorzean Alliance. That being said, I still don't think it's likely (any time soon) for the reasons stated above.

As for the issue of snow, they could have kept furniture unaffected (aside from light dusting, Ishgard itself doesn't have much snow coverage and it wouldn't appear that unnatural), perhaps placed housing towards the less snowy eastern highlands or even implemented apartments in the city, a compromise I'd have preferred than nothing at all. I just find it very strange to have skipped Ishgard entirely.

Players should be able to have the option to decorate their home in their preferred style and not be beholden by the districts available. Especially in this case, I don't think it unreasonable to ask that we have Ishgard themed-furniture equal to that of the existing areas - given its part in the MSQ and its new standing in the Eorzean Alliance, it's every bit as relevant as Riviera, Glade, etc.

    Oh man, that sucks.

Also, snow not working with in-game items? Didn't they sell us patch of snow during a holiday event? I remember seeing someone bought a whole yard's worth and turned his garden into a snowball arena.

I can't be certain without digging up the post again, but I'm pretty sure they were speaking about it making more sense logistic-wise rather than story-wise. They would rather have the new district near at hand to the quest hubs, vendors, hunt boards, etc. where everyone was going to be rather than making people teleport back and forth between the new zones and the old expansion. Hop in game and take a look at the number of people hanging out in Kugane compared to the Holy See and you'll see where the devs' reasoning comes from.

Again, this is all just what I've gathered about the devs' thought process, and it makes sense to me from an objective standpoint. Personally speaking, I don't have a horse in this race as the Mist continues to be my personal favorite district. I don't particularly care for the Shirogane aesthetic at all (aside from thinking the layout of the district itself is lovely) and I highly doubt that an Ishgard district would tempt me to move either, snow or no snow. Variety is nice, and I will always support more of anything to do with housing, but if it came down between having to choose between one or the other, in this particular case I think it was logical to go with the district that is located in the newest expansion rather than an old one.

There is no sightseeing log, no company chest, etc. In addition, the location of the marketboard (and to a lesser extent, hunt board and leves) in Ishgard is too far for the lazy player, which is the same reason you see less people in Gridania compared to Limsa.

Also weebs. Never forget the power of the weebs.

I would hate to see Ishgard forever forgotten to the passage of time, especially if we get housing zones for each new expansion. I'm not asking for it any time soon, but I think it will leave a bad taste in a bunch of people's mouths if we start getting Garlean, Meracydian, and Sharlayan housing with expansions if Stormblood is anything to look at.
