The lunch box should change with the weapon, I mean Bards have had the quiver change with weapon since the beginning what did they get lazy or something.
SE please fire the MCH design lead and let the Bard design lead handle it. The current guy clearly hasn't been doing his job since the beginning.

Created from magiteck parts (just like the rook and bishop), which is but machine enhanced with magic. It's true that it doesn't interact with other skills on its own, but simply hiding it for yourself should suffice. There's no reason to need to disable it for everyone other than a simple want.
So you'll be cool with all glamour being only you see it? Good to know, HEY SE this guys says its fine to make glamour client side only.Created from magiteck parts (just like the rook and bishop), which is but machine enhanced with magic. Come on now! Are you really that concerned over something as petty as the invisible gauss barrel thats only used in combat? Are you concerned about what complete strangers you will likely never see again think of it? The people you see regularily on your server wont see the damn thing because if you hate it so much, you will likely not equip it outside of a dungeon, would you?
Stop being so insecure and deal with it. Jeez

Hell there are whole communities around watching people stream this game. Some player have lots of people seeing GB ruin their glamour they worked so hard to cultivate.

I'm pretty sure BRD and MCH have the same designer, just because they were so close in HW(with MCH clearly being the focus and BRD being the afterthought), but class designers and artists are presumably separate, with those decisions being left to people above the grunts. Also, calling for someone to be fired because you don't like the aetheroconverter is petty as hell. The lunch box should change with the weapon, I mean Bards have had the quiver change with weapon since the beginning what did they get lazy or something.

So you want the SE designers FIRED over something as niche and mundane as someone else catching your gauss barrel in a screenshot. Youre either grasping straws here or youre being utterly ridiculous.
Which brings us to the point of the thread. In an environment where BRD, AST and SAM, RDM can have unique secondary models and SMNs who can change their egi appearance to not only themselves but other players, why is MCH the exception for both when it comes to their aesthetics?Created from magiteck parts (just like the rook and bishop), which is but machine enhanced with magic. And even if you were to bring up the part about it being magitek, it's still constrained by the fact it's machinery and not actual magic, otherwise it's an outlier on it's acutal interactions when you look at other magitek items (such as the ironworks set or even the turrets as you mentioned), assuming the gauss barrel is magitek at all since it seems more like an actual machinery like most guns.

Or maybe they should just get rid of it? Get rid of the stupid thing on the waist too. They've already gotten rid of plenty of visuals that were more aesthetically pleasing than that lame rotating clamp and steampunk fanny pack.
When I first started red mage, and realized that both the sword AND the gem are unique for each weapon, I immediate though of how badly machinist was screwed up by the devs. None of the machinist accessories are designed to match the weapon, there is little variation in appearance, and they clash hideously with just about every armor and weapon design in the game. Meanwhile every samurai sword has a matching sheath, and every bow has matching quiver and arrows.
Either redesign the machinist equipment to be unique for each weapon, or just get rid of them.
The satchel is linked to your turrets. Not your gun.
