There was a time it was more difficult/expensive to get BiS melds, that is not the case in stormblood. Level 5 melds basically rain on you as you do content and level 6 are not difficult to get also. Other than what others have said you can always sell level 5 melds that you don't need in MB and from that buy level 6.

If V is all you currently have go for it. If your holding out on using any of your VIs though Id just go ahead and use them as youll be able to get more easily. No need to wait till you get VIs in every slot, O1S and O2S can be done easily without any melds at all, but if you have the materia then no point in not using it.

V1S and V2S, whatever, but you probably aren't going to clear V3S without grade 6 vitality melds as a healer unless you have like, full creation left side.

What? We cleared it without any VIT melds on our healers weeks ago, I'm sure others have too. The item level requirement is 320. Or are you talking about floor 4?

Yar, you definitely don't need VIT until O4S unless you are fudging up mindjack pretty spectacularly?

Now that savage raids had been out for a while, is it acceptable for me to join O1S and O2S with level V material? I intend to use RF and play as a AST.

I mean, you could, but why would you take less secondary stats when you could have higher direct hit, crit, etc?

Vs are fine for 1 and 2 if you don't have the time or funds to get VIs, but I'd not go into v3s without at least some VIs slotted.

I had a WHM we pugged in 3s once that had... nothing melded. At all. We left and kicked them because 3s is really god damn hard, especially on a healer.

Don't really need melds until you get to V3s where any little dps boost is needed and some of the gear leaves you pretty low in some areas for stats
