Gear up? My DRK is currently running ilvl324. My main class, AST, is sitting at ilvl316, and my SAM is at ilvl314. I think I'm pretty well geared for content outside of Omega Savage, depending on the role I choose to utilize. I have dabbled in quite a few classes, so yes, I am fully aware of what most of them are capable of.

It's not so much as saving an ability as it is something that seems unnecessary to use when its not needed. Again, if you run with DRKs and you can pull that off flawlessly, more power to you. I just personally will not use LD unless it is absolutely necessary. Same with my runs as an AST - I have not seen DRKs using it unless necessary - usually in Bartam's Mettle. Aside from that, I've never seen DRKs use it just to provide the healer some free moments to get in AOE DPS. I DPS when healing is not needed, and that has been working out well for me.

Well, no, with Living Dead, you actually can't. It takes a good second or so for Living Dead to actually take effect when you activate it, so if you are already in the process of dropping to 0HP when you turn it on, you will die. My definition of an 'oh shit' situation changes depending on the healer. If they've been on point with heals, I'll leave LD alone. If they've been spotty throughout the run, or I'm fighting a primal, I'm more than likely going to pop it, depending on what phase and how many CDs I have left. Susano EX, I've popped quite a few times due to late tank swaps and poor healing up to the first Stormsplitter.

First of all I have 4 characters so you shouldn't make assumptions about anything based on the 1 character I have listed on here, I have had DRK leveled since HW launch.

Second as a tank it usually doesn't take longer then 1 pull to gauge the ability of your healer and if you think holding onto a cooldown for an entire dungeon is acceptable then whatever you probably never drop tank stance either right?

I haven't in the SB dungeons, no - even with CDs, they hit like a damn truck. I dabbled a little bit in that with HW when I was still new to MMOs in general (this is the first and only MMO I've played), but then I switched over to AST.

So let me get this straight - you call me out on an assumption I made (yes, I made one, I got called out on it, I'll take that hit on the chin)...but then you make one on me in response because I will not use LD on a casual basis? Oh...that's the current meta right?

My problem is your telling people that their wrong based on your admitted low experience on tanks.

Listen your free to use LD however you want but don't call out people out for saying it should ideally be used tactically with all your other CD.

Look back two pages. I didn't start saying people was wrong until that page. Look back...once one of the other posters said somebody else was wrong, that's when I used the word. Never before.

Also, I just realized that last part - low experience? Perhaps compared to you, but I wouldn't call tanking through HW for 3.56 and all of SB on 4.0 as low experience. If anything, its moderate experience. Everything since has been AST and SAM.

Sorry but your wrong about living dead, at least in casual content it's a cooldown that should be used like any other and saving it for a hypothetical situation is a waste of the skill unless you have 0 confidence in your healer.

I agree here. I do the same with Hallowed ground too. I do it so healers can dps more or just pay more attention to his netflix when he/she cure me every 5 seconds.

Got the job done with 2 RDMs dpsing and healing, and the healer had the guts to ask us for commends to get her crown when we were done.

Too many "mentors"(read: I want that mount and the cute little crown beside my name but I've been carried through all content) out there as is. Ran into a few last night when I ran my Mentor Roulette and got Ifrit EX. And yes, people are going to say that the mentors "did them a favour"(BULLF***INGHS**) by refusing(not just leaving, but telling people to kick them from the party) to do anything except stand there and die over, and over, and over, on every pull. But this is a risk you run when you go for Mentor Roulette. It's not a roulette for people who want to breeze through everything, it's a roulette designed to help people who are struggling, to help fill those queue spots that are taking forever, and to show that you know what you're talking about/doing. Everything that needed to be explained, was explained, however, refusing to help just because "just do it unsynced, or put it in PF with synced learning" is not a reason to refuse. If you don't have time to participate in these trials/raids/whatever you get, then DON'T RUN THE ROULETTE!

Though that party did end up abandoning without completion, didn't even go the whole time limit, I stuck with it through it all.

Queued up for the Mentor Rou again, and got Dun Scaith in progress(7min in). Load up, not even finished first boss. After they finish it, as I was still locked out, the rest of the run went smooth.

Level 50/60 roulette as RDM, Aetherochem. Facility. The healer was a WHM and they had Medica II up on us all. The. Time. Even when we weren't fighting anything. Same thing with Regen on the tank.

Deltascape 2 as BLM again, double WHM. They both threw up Medica II before the boss was pulled.

I don't know what the logic behind this idiocy is, but I hate it.

They only take extra damage because many tanks were trying to push through leveling dungeons in Shire gear. A decent tank can do anything without tank stance on. The only exception being if the DPS massively out-gear them.

*If* that is true (I don't know tanking well enough to make such a judgement), then I had some reeeeeally bad luck with tanks after 4.0 dropped.
