Although, I am curious a bit as to why you'd need Shirk in O2. It's not like there's any tank switching going on there.

If you're new to healing, and you're guilty of the following:

    - Spamming Cure on a fully-healed tank
    - Forgetting to put Benediction on your bar
    - Thinking Cure III is the best single-target heal
    - Accidentally dragging Resurrection OFF your bar and refusing to put it back on
    - Using a guilt-trippy Res macro that tells the <t> to "quit eating dirt"
    - Not knowing what Regen, Cure II, or Medica II are

... maybe you shouldn't be learning to heal in Baelsar's Wall.

I wish this newbie healer the best, but I had to take the penalty after wiping twice to the second boss. Taking the penalty is my own choice (since she was in a premade, and a dismiss probably wouldn't have gone through), but it still stinks to lose an hour because the healer isn't ready for the dungeon.

I don't even know what game it is, but let my guess be WoW. We use provoke here, somebody asking a dumb question as of "do you have shirk?" should either be kicked or get a stupid answer. And just like the other person, maybe I am mixing up turns here, but were do you need provoke in O2?

Shirk is a tank role ability. It's used to give about 25% of your aggro to the selected target. In O2S, it's optimal (but not required) to ensure a tank swap and avoid a death. I don't think I've seen it used much in O2N, though.

The DRK wanted to tank without Grit on and have the PLD Provoke + Shirk them to help with aggro. They refused to put Grit on even as the aggro gap between themself and the DPS grew closer and closer. I used Diversion twice in a row and still almost took aggro.

I still don't get this obsession with tank DPS. I don't get why they can't just do their jobs properly so that us DPS can do our jobs properly without constantly worrying about ripping aggro. But now I'm just beyond truly caring about it.

Sometimes all they need is a kick to the teeth to know "maybe I shouldn't be doing this"

OT is still building enmity a bit. They can use Shirk to pass hate to the MT so they don't have to use another enmity combo. It's for a DPS increase for the tanks really

When I tank, I only drop Grit/switch to DPS stance when I know I can keep agro still without worries.

Because if se gave us a parse we'd see how much tank stance kills DPs

So if tanking felt more rewarding would dps matter as much? Or if tanks gave a buff or debuff from doing their role that increased other team member's damage and got credit for the extra dps on a parser, would that make a difference?

I keep tank stance up until I know I can handle the damage intake. Honestly, enmity generation isn't too bad if you're good enough with your enmity combo, even though you want to use those as little as possible. My problem is the massive influx of green DerPS we have in the game, and I'd rather have something that increases my survivability and longevity than getting chunked on a couple AAs because the healers are determined to spam Stone/Malefic/Ruin rather than spend an OGCD to bring me back up.
