If you are looking for people to RP with in-game, I would highly recommend checking out your world's subforum. That's how I found the linkshell that I RP with, even though my little server is not one of the big ones known for RP.

As for why I RP, it seemed like a natural evolution of the fact that I enjoy creative writing and am a huge lore nerd. Story in games is always one of the biggest draws for me, and usually as important as the gameplay itself. RPing keeps my skills sharp (typing, proofreading, vocabulary, etc.) and my creative juices flowing in between writing my own stuff.

The one notable difference between us that I feel compelled to mention is the fact that however much I like my character, I make a point of not getting too attached to it. In my experience, that is what usually leads to some of the most common RP 'faux pas,' stemming from people being unable to accept their character losing a fight/argument or not handling it well when encountering other characters who simply do not like them. I'm not saying it's a trap that necessarily you or anyone else must fall into just because they love their characters, but it is something you do see a lot if you RP for any length of time and I actively try to avoid.

Well certainly, if you just want to chat with other roleplayers, then the general forum is as good a place as any; though I do believe there are other non-official forums dedicated solely to that aspect of the game which you might have fun checking out.
But what I was actually talking about when I suggested posting on your world's sub forum was if you wanted to try to connect with other people to actively role play with in-game. We can talk shop OOCly here all we want, but unless someone transfers, rolls an alt, or is coincidentally already on your sever, our characters can't meet up ICly for a drink at the Drowning Wench (or wherever it is you like to hang out ICly.)
