Helluu fellow Roleplayers!
This is a Thread about us with going with the " Roleplay " title.
Im in a search for others like what i am, that see the world of Eorzea much more than just a game.
So ive been mostly dreaming away a lots of times in this lovely game for search for my roleplay passion that could return me back to this game.
I really love how strong social community we have to each other players, how nice and easy the network are to meet someone compare to many others games that has lack of this so its awesome here, but this doesnt gives me fun as before because too many have lost the passion for rolplaying...

Im a roleplayer, I believe theres still few around and wants to dream for this to return.

So here i am making my voice out to the world to get my passion to love here again, because the surrounding in my lovely Eorzea is so dead for me..., i jumped server so many times to find where i belong...
im sad for leaving alots of lovely players i called friends, but this wasnt because of them, its because i strife for something else in this world that doesnt matches with them so sadly i left them because it didnt worked on long term for just go blindly having fun with them because i always missed to want to follow my dream on what i want in this game and it made alots of sacrifices...:/

I love final fantasy and its lore, i want to believe i can still find the same players like me that brings fun again.

I really love my Character, i really love the storyline, i really love the beauty here, i love the other part of myself here, where are you?
Its the most loved game for me and i really didnt go buy sub because its just a game for me, its my second life as i love this, where i can express my other part of myself in a character that is myself alive and dream in Eorzea.

What is your definition of Role Playing. I hear this term tossed around a lot so the definition of RP is kinda confusing, so please enlighten me as I may have the same passion for the game as you do

Roleplaying is essentially collaborative writing. You take on the persona of your character and write about their day to day lives with others players as though telling a story through their eyes. Most roleplayers tend to not make their character the Warrior of Light nor involve themselves with the MSQ, but instead just play an ordinary citizen, adventurer, sellsword or whatever else you can think up. Some do canon the story though usually with a select few friends. That's entirely up to you.

It's not real role-playing. It's having your character stand around in a tavern waiting for someone to slowly type out /e "takes a sip from her glass of wine before gesturing to Momandi for another one. Then she turns to you and says "wow, that's interesting. So. Tell me more about yourself." And you type out a reply in ten seconds because you took basic typing lessons in highschool and can convey your thoughts accurately and swiftly. And then she takes another minute to respond. And you go insane with boredom.

You'll have more fun playing Dungeons and Dragons on skype.

Role playing peaked years ago. Now it's all taverncraft. And even at its height, it was fundamentally pointless, because there's no sense of danger to make it interesting. Moderated RP with consequential risk (Like D&D) will always be superior. If you can't die, be arrested, or be robbed, then you're just indulging in a solipsistic power fantasy, no matter how humble you pretend your characters are.

If you are looking for people to RP with in-game, I would highly recommend checking out your world's subforum. That's how I found the linkshell that I RP with, even though my little server is not one of the big ones known for RP.

As for why I RP, it seemed like a natural evolution of the fact that I enjoy creative writing and am a huge lore nerd. Story in games is always one of the biggest draws for me, and usually as important as the gameplay itself. RPing keeps my skills sharp (typing, proofreading, vocabulary, etc.) and my creative juices flowing in between writing my own stuff.

The one notable difference between us that I feel compelled to mention is the fact that however much I like my character, I make a point of not getting too attached to it. In my experience, that is what usually leads to some of the most common RP 'faux pas,' stemming from people being unable to accept their character losing a fight/argument or not handling it well when encountering other characters who simply do not like them. I'm not saying it's a trap that necessarily you or anyone else must fall into just because they love their characters, but it is something you do see a lot if you RP for any length of time and I actively try to avoid.

Well certainly, if you just want to chat with other roleplayers, then the general forum is as good a place as any; though I do believe there are other non-official forums dedicated solely to that aspect of the game which you might have fun checking out.
But what I was actually talking about when I suggested posting on your world's sub forum was if you wanted to try to connect with other people to actively role play with in-game. We can talk shop OOCly here all we want, but unless someone transfers, rolls an alt, or is coincidentally already on your sever, our characters can't meet up ICly for a drink at the Drowning Wench (or wherever it is you like to hang out ICly.)
