The problem why this isn't as simple for some people to understand is that they think their time/effort is more valuable than others', so it never crosses their minds that they're the ones being douches.

never camp over others, and if I have to kill something anyone is killing/leveling of off, and I came a ways for...like a quest, I'd shoot them a /tell and apologize in advance.

Depends on the mob.I had a fun day today, filled with adventure, excitement, a sense of being the best, and a sense of being a jerk. All of these feelings came from competing with others for claim over a mob, and how those people responded in turn. So I'm very curious about how you feel about camping over others, and the various scenarios that you might base your decisions off of. I want to see where everyone sits on this one. Discuss! And keep it civil.
Big/mini NMs? hell ya competition.
Smaller things? Its still competition but i would think it better to be considerate to leave them alone.
Also gotta keep in mind that if its a crowded place and pple see you afk, then it kinda becomes free for all (aka you dont own the area cause you stand there afk) Basically you really gotta confirm if it was intentional at the start. If either jump to conclusions it becomes a mess of he said/did she said/did. Although in the end, the reality, being the popularity of the item and the population of the server, might not let everyone who wants it, to 'stand in line' for their turn =( Such circumstances are hard considering the nature of MMORPGs.
With that said, two wrongs dont make a right. MPKing them in return probably might be something less condoned than competitive camping. ^^ That is something that actually can be avoided given any circumstance.

FFXIV Since Sep. 2010: Selbina/Ridill/Excalibur (Mergers)
Currently moved to Leviathan
I remember the Alpha days when even breathing lagged you
You guys have a habit of bringing things up after they've supposedly been settled... Anyway, I do in some situations MPK people if I can, and it's a skill that I practice the same way that I practice out-camping and soloing. That's no secret. If you want to talk about it any more let's just keep it in-game.

"If you need to act like a jerk in some video game just to feel alive you should take a look at the way you are living your life."Ignoring everyone responses before I post: It goes with the territory!
_If you can't handle camping over or being camped over, I guess you suck in real life too.
_The development team can provide a big enough world with as much locations to camp but will not be able to serve everyone's needs and wants.
_It's part of the fun because you actually interacting with the game, if not just the game... well, with other players. Laugh and have a good time being frustrated or annoyed. =P
You said it yourself and I hope people can relate: You felt excitement, filled with adventure and a sense of being the best (or worse jerk). That's what FFXIV should inspire the most, the feeling of LIFE.
I don't know who you are my response was to the person I quoted. I don't think I've ever seen you on Selbina.
After some intensive research I found out you are referring to one of our off night pick up parties in strongholds where you valiantly MPK'd a group of our members spirit binding for no reason over some no-one-cares-about camp. You guys have a habit of bringing things up after they've supposedly been settled... Pretty pathetic attempt at drama if you ask me. So this whole thread was obviously troll bait (which I had no idea when I posted on it originally, and seeing as how no one in our LS actually mentioned this specific incident that should be a good clue how much we care). My responses up to this point were not in that context, I just assumed you were asking for people's opinion on the topic of camp stealing. I gave you mine which is that nothing really in the game has been worth competing over since the old NM's.
You guys should stick to making copy linkshells of our LS. This level of drama stirring I think is beyond your abilities.

Some players can be opportunistic pricks. The key to this scenario? Whack the mobs or have a Lancer use Heavy Trammel to claim all the mobs before those other bastards can get their hands on them. It works for me, usually.
Formerly Rounnin Tiankeris of Kashuan; reborn as Yongdi Washou of Hyperion.
May we continue to walk in the light of the crystal and restore Eorzea to its former glory.

@Murugen.
Just 2 things.
1. This wasn't posted for trolling. Nothing was posted to *bait in* your LS in any way.
2. I really like how you ignored the 'please keep it in-game'.
Good job, bro.

Also, my general ideam about outcamping depends on the people.
I am, for the most part, very against it. However, if the people in the party have previously exercised their right to compete (i.e, tried to outcamp me before), I have no problem taking claim on their mobs. That being said, its difficult to go against the plan of the party leader / majority. If they go in, I have to as well.
I do believe most of the problems between claim on a set of monsters can be taken care of if the two parties work out a system or explain what they're doing.
