Let me break this down for you pussycat. When FXIV players play the job Dragoon, they have certain expectations to what the job is going to look like and play like. When I say what we expect I mean the collected mentality. Obviously dragoon has an identity, established in the early Final Fantasy games with some tweaks and innovations along the line.
Pretty much up until this date the job dragoon has been portrayed numerous times by the same trademarks, such as. (I might be forgetting something btw, possible)
- The dragoon AF set.
- Spear as the main weapon (with some exception)
- Dragoon abilities
- A connection to dragons
- Dragoon being a DDing class
Additionally FFXI gave drg a mascot that has to some degree also become a dragoon trademark, when we look at it we immediately think of it as the "dragoon's companion".
I am not saying that all of these have to be in place in order to call it dragoon, I am just saying that there are certain expectations to what a dragoon should bring, some putting more emphasis on some of these trademarks. For instance, I think we can agree that the collective mentality thinks that the FFXIV dragoon should resemble something like this:

This is an accurate look of what we identify with the dragoon look.
Now FFXI took a similar approach, took the image a step further and adding a wyvern, making it look like this:
That was what I was talking about when you quoted me, that's what the post was about. Just to summarize my stand I feel like the concept they have showed of dragoon looks more like a step backwards from FFXIs version, and I think it looks less appealing, and I prefer the company of a wyvern companion rather than a stand alone job. That's it.
Is the cat still confused =?.?=
