You said it yourself and I hope people can relate: You felt excitement, filled with adventure and a sense of being the best (or worse jerk). That's what FFXIV should inspire the most, the feeling of LIFE.
If you need to act like a jerk in some video game just to feel alive you should take a look at the way you are living your life.
