There are those who will laugh and move on.
There are those who will not care and move on.
There are those who are genuinely affected and should act on their moral conviction.
And there are those who enjoy being "police" and take pleasure in reporting others because it makes them feel more important. They also usually are mall cops or work elevators at anime conventions. Wannabe authoritarians.

Man, all these people talking about how words are hurtful and all this cyber-bullying and suicide stuff... sticks and stones, people. If you're really letting other people talk down to you, maybe you should, I dunno... muster up some courage and confidence, stand up for yourself, and address the problem instead of crying about it? It's like the old saying goes, "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." I understand a lot of people go through issues like this, but c'mon, being a whiny little emo kid who cries a lot and cuts himself isn't going to help anything. Often times, people who like to harass others will back off when they find out their prey has the balls to fight back; they don't get the sense of empowerment anymore.

Now, how all this relates to character names in FF14... it's like I said earlier - most of the time, I just laugh and move on. The only real issue I've ever seen with someone who made an "offensive" character name in an online game was when they actually gave their character a ridiculous-looking outfit and ran around spamming racist and sexually derogatory phrases and emotes to other people in-game. That's definitely a problem, but that goes beyond just the character's name, of course. Besides, you can always type /names to stop displaying them if it bothers you that badly, right?

I agree with this as well. Harassing people, as well as trying to "bring justice" to said harassers... a lot of people don't realize that some other people get their kicks from the sense of empowerment these actions bring. Same thing with people like corrupt politicians who get laws passed that benefit themselves or their friends and family rather than help the general population, religious zealots that get a large group of followers believing ridiculous ideals that they would throw away their lives for, those who lead a large business organization and focus on making more money rather than the quality of their product and their customer service, etc.
