I believe the phrase coined around here was "blue and green DPS with extra utility".

I think that sums it up pretty well. Another burst healing job where I spend my time casting a near perfect 1:1 ratio of boring DPS abilities vs actual healing spells? No thanks. Besides, as was pointed out, it seems like GEO in XIV lore is basically just a repurposed CNJ.

Lore is always being expanded and changed. I haven't done the quests involving Geomancer lore in FFXIV, but I doubt there's any lore on it that's constructed in such a way to make it impossible to use as a basis for a new job. Even something like, "There are historically two groups of people on Hydaelyn called Geomancers" would easily allow for a new playable geomancer job to exist in FFXIV's canon. What little about geomancers is touched on in FFXIV isn't enough to rule out a classic and beloved Final Fantasy job from ever making it in the game.

Funny enough, this wouldn't be the first time we've seen a job that eventually became playable, but not like how we had seen it at that time. In Coerthas is when you first see Astrologians. However, they are Ishgardian Astrologians, which were not only nothing like the Sharlayan version that we got, but was even used as a plot element to show how different they are. Geomancer may still be a possibility for FFXIV, however it likely won't be the watered-down Hingan variant we see in the Astrologian questline.

As for this concept, it's not bad for a baseline premise, but could still need to adhere to the applied rules devs have set in the creation of healers. What this concept I think also proves is how hard it can be to make Geomancer a healer, attempting to balance a fine line between something otherwise perceived as the lowly Conjurer and something like this concept, which doesn't really seem to be all that earth-themed short of the blandly-named "GEO-" spells.
