dungeon goes on, we limp through the first boss and he's got topaz back out. so this time I offer advice straight up.

Me: [SMN], Topaz is the tank carry, so Summon I is probably a better choice for a dungeon :D

well ok then

this drags on and as I start to notice that I'm tanking more and more often, I also come to the horrifying realization that the tank isn't just having trouble, he's not using Flash. At all. we're pulling 4 monster mobs and the tank's on one and of the other 3, two are on me and one is on the RDM. I am officially tanking better than both our tank and Topaz Carbuncle. so this time I talk to the tank.

Me: [GLD], you might want to use Flash early on after pulling :D

at this point, I'm genuinely wondering if there's server crossover here and I'm playing with non English speakers. We get to the Fleshy Pod portion of the map and the tank walks face first into three of them until I warn him that he should use Shield Lob, or he'll get poisoned. he starts using Shield Lob. he speaks English.

the pulls get worse. the mobs get worse. I nearly die because I'm a healer triple tanking while also healing a bad tank who's standing out of Medica range. I beg him to start using Flash, let him know what the proper rotation is, and remind him that a lot of people who are not tank classes are currently tanking.

no response. no flash.

then we get to the boss and the tank opens with Limit Break.

i'm done.

i'm going back to DPS.

Oh, hohoho! Young adventurers these days. You know not what true hell is. I have seen the darkness, the utter despair that is contained in: Susano Ex DUTY FINDER. I have walked through the valley of the shadow of death and I have returned to tell tales of such horror as that tank who got one-shot on the mini-tank busters in p1, that other tank who was too afraid to soak the balls because he wasn't getting heals (despite being the last one alive), dps who flat out refuse to use LB3, and that really annoying ast who cast aspected helios once every other minute. Ye know not how good PF truly is in comparison.

Was doing sirensong on my DRG one day and had one of those WHMs that used medica II constantly, burning all their mp, pulling everything, generating obscene agro and overhealing like mad. I kindly explained that medica II should only really be used if there's an arena wide aoe and you're expecting another after the first aoe. Silence, ok whatever, first boss dies, tank pulls second first set after boss, medica II again. I internally sigh, check party members and see they're German, right auto translate time. Because auto translate only has a select few terms I chose medica II and no. No response from healer, ugh. Next set pulled healer immediately eats agro, tank has to do extreme interpretive dance to get them back, they keep casting medica II to the point where they are always 2 on the agro list. I try again this time choosing medica II and stop. Silence..........."you have been dismissed from the duty" lovely. So that's the story of how I waited 45 mins to get into a dungeon, get a whm who can't basic, politely explain to not spam medica II then resort to auto translate and I'm finally kicked. Thanks guys. Some people wonder why mentors don't like mentoring sometimes, this is why.

I know I can't expect people to play optimally all the time in every instance. I'm generally okay with people doing whatever as long as no one's dying and we're not taking an eternity to clear. But I have a special hatred for WHM players who spam Medica II. Ask them to stop pre-casting it before pulls, tell them that Medica and Cure III are better for repeated GCD healing, or even just mention that they're wasting a ton of MP and making life harder for the tank and you'll either get ignored or whined at. Like holy crap I'm not going to expect pro levels of play in a duty roulette. But for the love of God at least read your tool tips and listen to the people who are giving you advice. I've been with way too many WHM players who use Medica II all the time, casting it back to back instead of more potent up-front heals and getting us killed because they assume that II is better than I in every possible way.

I simply don't understand this either and never did even with SMNs were the only other DPS class that could raise. RDM have even /less/ excuses than SMN as well because it isn't that hard to get back to top DPS with a RDM where as a SMN is fucked if their dots have fallen off. The only RDMs I know who actively raises people to help ease the healing load are in my FC it seems and that's partially because we're friends and they want to make things easier for me if the entire party is going to shit.

This might seem dumb, but part of it might have to do with SE and Yoshida's staunch refusal to give PS4 DPS players any way to monitor their performance.

This is just personal experience, but I play on PS4 and so I use the aggro gauge as a ghetto way to monitor how well I'm doing in terms of performance in fights. I also rez people all the time and would notice a significant drop in my ranking on the aggro meter every time. It never stopped me rezzing, but I did find it odd that losing one cooldown would have such an impact on my performance.

Fast forward a couple weeks and I'm in Deltascape fights and I start noticing the same thing happening even when I'm not rezzing. Sure, I'm messing up mechanics here and there due to human error (and that impossible to see sliver in D2 which is even worse because I'm a tiny lala who can hardly see himself in a crowd at the best of times); but it doesn't seem like I'm messing up so much that I'd have a drop. That's when I remembered that Lucid Dreaming had an aggro dump. I double-checked the tooltip to see and yup, you drop aggro from Lucid Dreaming.

All that to say that some RDM may think that they are taking a much bigger hit to DPS when they rez than what they are actually taking. Personally, I'll always Lucid Dream after a rez since the cost is pretty high; especially if I rezzed a healer since I probably Mana Shifted as well. I also play healers, so I try to be the DPS I want in parties lol.

I have noticed an increase of whm players spamming this, just makes me sad seeing it really. I play whm, it's actually my main and seeing people at 50+ fail so spectacularly is just baffling.

Titan through Roulette. Other AST took 2 minutes into the fight to realize their sect isn't enabled, then picks the same as me, then proceeds to use macros to mark (with chat message and sound effect) a) the only target available anyway b) in a party without a single newbie.

I have yet to meet a mentor in this game who isn't either just a regular rando only with a crown before their names or an active nuisance incompetent at their class.

Was running the Stone Vigil as a tank. Had the SCH standing in the wrong place constantly, from aggroing extra mobs to standing in front of the boss during the boss fight. I suggested to the healer maybe it wasn't a great idea to stand in front of the boss with me during the 2nd boss fight where I had the boss pulled away from the cannons. After the next pull I suggest to the healer maybe it would be a good idea to resummon his fairy which died to tank busters because he was standing in front of the boss. While I only took a few seconds to type out my short message, the SCH started pulling mobs with his fairy still not out.

A wipe in the dungeon, when I pulled two groups and he pulled a patrol Aevis from standing in the wrong spot I died from not enough healing. The kicker was the SCH still had plenty of mana, and he wasn't using energy drains to recover mana, he just neglected his Aetherflow and Lucid. Also he didn't even use a single aldoquium he sat their spamming physick until I died.

Can't do Cure III in Alliance raids... they never get it that they have to stack tight for it to be effective and whine instead that they don't get heals.
