I had a cute encounter during the moonfire faire. I wanted more FATEs to start in Costa Del Sol, so I went to go kill Cancer with my buddy. We knew it'd take forever, but that was ok. About 3 mins in, a random person pops up, and starts chatting in Japanese and cheering us on(both of us don't really understand much even though we are trying to learn.). Then within about 5 minutes, their whole free company of maybe 20 people shows up to help us out. At the end of the FATE they all started bowing and cheering us.

It was just so cute and funny. It felt like a dungeon run that goes really well and everyone kind of feels camaraderie after. I just like how this game can give cute encounters like that that go beyond language barriers. The auto translate feature is also such an amazing thing. I know they didn't have to program that after they decided to have regional DCs, but I'm so glad they did.

Tanking is hell.

Going to level Paladin to 70 as soon as I finish up BRD (68). My plan is to spam dungeons/roulettes through Party Finder groups. My invite message is going to be "relearning job, haven't tanked in over a year. In exchange for your patience and putting up with small pulls you get to bypass the 30-40 minute DPS queue "

I figure that way it's a win win, I get small pulls and people know what to expect going in. In return they cut the queue.

I did an expert today where the healer got mad I LB'd trash mobs as a caster. From my impression, they seemed insistent that we needed it for the second boss (I was in Ala Mhigo)? Or maybe they were thinking we won't get 2 bars for the last boss???? Well anyway, I was a bit confused by their comment, they left and another healer joined. We finished the dungeon no problem with 2 bars and all towards the end.

That's actually not a bad idea :X I know I can probably drag some buddies along most of the time once I get back into dungeons, but I've been such a chicken about doing it..

I was farming the Great Gubal Library (lvl 59) last night for tank glamour and ended up with a party of me (DRK), a monk, a red mage and an astrologian. I do small pulls at the healer's request and find myself popping cooldowns on 3-4 mob pulls because they struggle to keep my HP up. Their heals were very weak for some reason.

First boss and AST dies. Stands in every single AOE and can't even keep their own HP up. Happens again. Monk leaves, instantly get BLM replacement. We offer to help, AST says everything is fine. We limp forward until the last boss. AST dies early on due to standing in AOEs and causes us to wipe. Second attempt, AST manages to survive a little longer but still dies early on just after the second add summoning. However, RDM steps up and heals me, the BLM helps with mechanics and we manage to kill the boss without the AST's help. I ended up praising the RDM's healing after the run, ignoring the AST. The RDM definitely earned the comm I gave them. =)

Got Susano for trial roulette on my 63 NIN. First attempt, the Bad WHM dies to all the Bad Things. Twice? All before the Big Sword Thing.. Not sure, but it wound up wiping 'cause the other healer was trying to get them up. So we're up, second attempt, several people remind the Bad WHM to stack for the orange markers.

I counted deaths for that one. 8 times. Eight. Orange stack marker? Run away! Parted sea? Stand in lightning! Water puddles? Stand in them! Red line of DON'T STAND THERE after the Big Sword Thing? It's so pretty!

Not sure of the exact percentage, but under 10% full party wipe. We left.

Edit: Requeued for Trial, got Susano again, had newbie NIN. We told him what to do. He was sure he was going to die at least once.

He didn't die, and it was a one shot.

Here's a tale I encountered on Monday. And it's a good, simple, heartwarming one, courtesy to myself

I picked up my static's healer for a casual run at Expert Roullete. Got Ala Mhigo with a brother / sister pair! The brother is a mentor SMN, while the sister is new to this dungeon as BRD. As a tank, I make quick tips for each boss. I expend my whole TP bar doing Total Eclipse and I was thirsty for TP. So, I told the Bard to include Tactician to help out with my TP regen. She did, and the whole run goes smoothly.


We beat Ala Mhigo with no problems (no mount loot nooo~), then...

Lyrai bows and walked towards the exit.
She suddenly stops walking, and after a few seconds, turns around to face the pair.
"I-I offer myself to be your tank for the next one!", said Lyrai with a burning passion in her eyes.
"Sure, that'd be much appreciated!", said the Bard, breaking the silence she had been for the whole dungeon.

I opened up a Party Finder to bring the pair in. My static healer joined as well, and then we one-shotted Shinryu.
We then departed with a heartfelt thanks to one another. I expressed happiness for helping someone out.

I've done the same in a dungeon. A tank MASSIVELY over-pulled. Not really his fault. He pulled a few, more came from the sides and then a second wave came from nowhere. Healer was running low, tank was nearly dead. I used a limit break and it all got handled quickly.

Sometimes the situation calls for it.

From a few days ago, I was farming Sophia EX. In one of the runs, the RDM performed a beautiful Displacement... right off the edge of the platform. And it almost killed me because I was laughing too hard to focus. I'm sure it wasn't very funny to them, but watching someone pull off a backflip to their death was just plain magical.
