Back in HW, I suggested that Scathe could be reworked as a skill that extends Astral Fire/Umbral Ice by 5 or 6 seconds, so that you're not screwed too badly by movement. I still think that would serve a useful purpose for BLM.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

I agree most definitely, this helps alot of people because at some point if dodging screws up their rotation they don't know what to do next to affectively continue it in the best way other than starting over. With an extender while dodging you can literally just continue where you left off. I wish I could rename the thread title but ah well.
