See now not all people with these cards are having problems, which leads me to believe for some of you guys it's a hardware problem. [...]

I was considering that possibility as well but much like Dominic, I have been using this card before 4.x without problems and - more importantly - SE support admitted to me that this was a problem their developers were looking into and to keep an eye on the forums.
Also I find it unlikely that a hardware problem would affect only one game ... which appears to be the pattern here.

SE could really clarify things by making a statement here either way.
