nobody does old dungeons, newer/slower players can't find parties.

The caps are to keep more people playing more of the content at a constant rate. Everyone in this game knows if you wanna get your runs done fast and efficiently , you play as much as you can right after weekly reset. Everyone is running their tome runs and wt entries. There's a mini spike friday night and saturday, and a teeny spike right before reset of people doing these duties.

remove the cap? You'd get 2 weeks of intense runs for everyone, people would be playing nonstop and capping the crap out of everything. Then 4 weeks in? dead. Nobody is running "old" content except the casuals, queues get longer and longer every day.

True this is opinion. I am no game dev, but from what I've seen in the forums and patterns in DF on my server, this is a necessary evil to keep the game alive and the majority of the people engaged.
I could be wrong, but I feel like if they were to adjust the cap to be per job, people would be running more dungeons/roulettes as they now actually have an incentive to. I can only speak for myself, but currently I only run 1 expert daily. That is it. No real reason to do more since it only takes 5 experts a week to cap Creation. If I had more jobs I could be working on, I would definitely try and sneak in an extra dungeon or two on the nights that I'm free. I can't imagine I'd be the only one doing some extra runs.

everyone would be running more .... initially. The point I'm trying to make is if you don't limit it or make people have a reason to keep coming back every week it will be a huge rush and then nobody running queues. People would cap out everything in the first couple weeks and move on or quit.

Can't fully gear a job in Creation tomes in two weeks :X Two months, maybe. Also, there is far more content in this game than just gearing up. If gearing is deemed by players and SE to be the end-game for XIV, we're in for some hurt. Gearing should be viewed as the first step into being able to play the content you enjoy.

personally I find WAYY more in this game besides gear, take a look at this character and you'll see I like gathering minions, mounts, crafting, achievements and I LOOOVE the stories, sidequests and otherwise.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to cap creation per job..but then how would you stop someone from capping out their Main job in creation gear and stopping in the first week? 15 types of tomes?.. bleh..
Gear ISN"T the beat all end all, but it is the main reason a lot of people play MMORPGs. Remove those people after they've got theirs and the queues grow.

I've been playing this game since 1.0 and will be playing till the story ends, but there is something to be said for keeping around people who are good at clearing dungeons and events efficiently and often, and those people are usually Gear Progression types.
