What's up with healers not healing?

I understand the frustration, OP, but you really should have used clemency to save yourself. Willfully not doing so means you were ignoring options that were on the table. Yes, the idiots should have healed you, but they were unreliable. If you could have saved yourself, then you should have! And afterwards typed a nasty request for them to ****ing pay attention to your health in party chat. You dying means everyone else dies, and there were five other players in that group who weren't being ass hats.

Healers still used to old times where healing was a joke and still using dps with no care at all about other's hp bar.

I'm still convinced 90% of healers are just dps rolling an healer for shorter df queues but their mindset won't change.

When I get co-healers who barely heal, they also do no dps. I've only once seen a healer who dps'd over healing; my pug co-healers either dps and heal well, or don't/barely do either, leaving me to do 90% of the healing and not get to dps much.

Though I've had a much nicer time in Omega than I did healing Alex... I've probably just ruined my luck saying that, but whatever.

Random healers in omega are definitely the most questionable healers Ive ever seen. My FC was doing omega runs and one of our healers was unavailable so we decided to just go in and let a random fill in. Now we dont do that at all anymore as every healer we got was trash and rarely helped heal which is even worse in Omega v1 with the forced 1 hp mechanic and we wiped due to not enough heals to deal with the incoming follow up damage.

For some reason Omega just brings out the worst random healers.

So you are saying I should kick the last 10 healers I had in pf?Since none of them was dpsing or keeping the group alive.

If any of them said something that means the same as 'DPS ques are so long so I DPS on a healer for instant pops.' and they are not healing, then yeah, I'd vote for it. I have no problem with random healers learning content. I do have a problem with people playing healer for quick Qs and having no intent, nor clue about actually healing and being completely unapologetic about it.

like our friend xeno says, if you die to an auto attack, find new healers. Meaning, if you get no heals and the healers ain't busy, just give them something to heal, aka turn the boss with a cleave right on top of them, have adds run after them etc. moment they lose 5 hp they gonna heal like a well oiled machine. Or kick them out right at the start. Can always train healers or extreme bad players.

Might sound horrible, but the last days have shown me, that if you don't go that drastic route, you're forced to not enjoy the game anymore, while "bads" that don't deserve it have a blast.

I actually do this quite frequently lol healers weren't healing me in V2s so I kept dying to auto attacks so I turned that damn thing around and cleaved the whole party and this healers became whole new ppl healing and doing dps...It works ppl lol

As a healer main, this is a problem(Well, not for me, because I play a healer to actually heal.) . The problem doesn't stem from "Well, if I'm not DPSing, my raid will yell at me!" or the "Healers need to DPS" stigma at all. It literally comes from laziness, and the mindset of "My co-healer should be healing, so I'm not going to." Which usually results in a dangerous game of "Healer chicken".

That's why you're dying. I imagine you've noticed that this happens far less frequently in 4 man dungeons.

I will say objectively that I agree with the OP to an extent, those people are bad healers, but I would also direct you to my signature.

Also, while I know this will be responded to poorly, most wipes I experience are due in large part to tanks overpulling in dungeons, not performing mechanics/observing proper positioning in raids or being severly undergeared but you don't see a thread on every page about "TANK Y U NO TANK BAD TANK!!!1" and I feel like the healer criticism needs to slow down.

That, and DPS who stand in AoEs, avoid stack AoEs(or run away when they are the center of it), bringing the baited AoEs onto others(Ifrit Eruption comes to mind - also happens with all other classes).

I was once asked how people wipe in some 4-man content...here is what I replied with:

Lag spike, power outage causing the healer to DC - but dies before the DC goes all the way through, inattention, trying to DPS and not move out of AoE, tank pointing cleave monsters towards party...there are numerous reasons why a healer can die in 4man content.
Normally when I need to heal it's 8man, and both healers are dead/in process of being resurrected. Some people are just slow to react to insta-kill mechanics. Seen it lots in older content(Keeper of the Lake comes to mind).

I had a SAM in Susie Normal yesterday that would get marked with the stack marker and run away even after it was explained to him.

Sadly some people are just a mess, that group had much worse problems. The DRG and I (on WHM) were popping bubbles while the MNK did the sword (and lived!) so yeah... all kinds of crazy people out there.

Personally, I still heal whenever HP low enough to require the same, but my guess as to why some people do not is that most content is pretty easy and really forgiving at the moment (including the extremes and OS1 and OS2).

Healers probably tunnel vision the DPS and when someone dies, they just pick 'em back up and go on with the fight.

That being said, having to waste MP on raise definitely doesn't help with the big healer deeps.
