If you played that way, then yes you run into that kind of restriction...

But you're also talking about inventory management practices as if they are required when they are entirely optional.

I've got a Black Mage, a Red Mage, and a Summoner I've been working on leveling, at levels 43, 54, and 60 respectively. There is no reason I need to hold on to every piece of caster gear between levels 43 and 60. Obtaining the gear I need as I level from either dungeons or other currency sources works perfectly fine without needlessly filling up my inventory. The idea that I *should* save "all gear between the lowest and highest level classes/jobs in that category" is quite frankly an incredibly silly notion, given how easy it is to acquire the gear needed to level (and how minor many of the upgrades are between those ilvl jumps until you're progressed past several jumps).

Also, across 2 free retainers and counting all armory slots, our inventory space is over 910, not 525.
