    I like how WildStar's sprint works. Outside of combat, you can toggle between walk, run, and sprint and it doesn't deplete your stamina bar. In-combat, you can sprint by holding shift (doesn't have to be this keybind in ffxiv, just an example) and it drains stamina. Stamina regenerates if you're not sprinting.

    agreed. again, unlimited sprint just sounds easier to create besides a completely different system. on the other hand, Aylis had already suggested a classic stamina management system that would allow players to build up there sprint time in the background while doing time-consuming interactions.

    among other annoyances of sprint, one thing that i did not mention is that i dont like how it's treated like a "go faster" ability with CD time that the player cannot manage.

    New players don't have immediate access to mounts 0:

    Lower levels used to be annoying enough running from map to map and we HAD shorter CD sprint before, now I just feel bad for the leafs.

    And yes, it would be nice to not have to change to bard whenever I'm a city to be able to move around fast. I get it, immersion, pretty cities and whatever, but there's only so many times I can slow walk through a street before I get sick of being a tourist and just want to do my business quickly :P

    Or if you can get the heavy debuff if you get hit while sprinting

    can we actually talk more about that subject?

    because there could be opportunity to add a risk factor for something such as unlimited sprint. so far as i'm concerned, running past an aggroed enemy is only risky while on a mount.

    so, yes, i think it would be fair to have sprint instantly end and go on 40 to even more seconds of CD the instant a player has aggroed an enemy. it would also potentially add a small sneaking system in which the player must slow down (toggle off sprint) when near enemies in order to have sprint available if they are ever caught.

    Just want to say that you can set a keybind for Sprint. This is for Keyboard/Mouse and Controller users. Controller users can set one of their controls to Execute Macro #98 or #99, and make that Macro a Sprint Macro. I have mine set to R3, since I don't use first-person view, and that's the default setting for that control.

    I would love to have Sprint unlimited outside of combat. I much preferred being able to sprint between nodes (especially ARR ones that are close together), rather than mounting/dismounting every time I arrived at one. I only use mounts for HW and SB nodes because they more spaced out, and to avoid aggroing mobs in the SB areas.

    Uh, no? I would just rather be able to Sprint between my nodes rather than constantly mounting/dismounting to get to the next one. It's what I did before SB, and it's what I would do again if they got rid of the 60 second cooldown outside of combat. I don't use Sprint that often in dungeons unless I'm having to catch up to the party for whatever reason or if there's a specific mechanic where I have to Sprint (in which, the CD is fine; doesn't really bother me). I would just like to have it out in the open world again while gathering, or while in city states. Outside of combat situations, the 60 second cooldown seems pretty arbitrary.
