I feel the same way you do about things, I don't like things handed to me, and i like to earn them, but at the same time, I would support a cash shop of the type PudgieWudgie describes, I don't want to waste my gil on a face makeover, when I could fork over $5 to do it (because you know the gil cost is going to be crazy high) I also like earning my gear, but when it comes to little stuff like even gear (bathing suits or the like) then I honestly don't care.Just for the record they plan to add in a barbershop that you use Gil to pay for, which is much more user friendly than having to shell out real money for something as stupid as changing your hair. Why would you want to pay real cash for something like this? Also Chocobo dyes should be created in game by a crafting class or something, same with fireworks. Also temp costumes should be gained from events or possibly even quests/crafters. I don't understand this want of spending cash, when it could be content that makes the game more fun.
I'm one of those all or nothing players, meaning that I want all of my game (within reason) for me to play or none of it, this includes costumes, dyes, and all that silly stuff that you don't care about. I like earning my gear, I like earning my levels, I like spending my in game gil I earned from playing and not have it cheapened because someone can use real cash and get things I can't because I decided to spend my money on food/rent/bills.
Not too mention I find cash shops hypocritical when game companies are out to stomp RMT's, because cash shop usually promotes those behaviors. Ever see someone selling a cash shop item for gold? That's basically RMT right there lol.
I absolutely do not want cash shops.
i wanna pay the monthly then thats it.
i dont want a cash shop to sell me a sword for $20 as a one time fee froget that.
Even one that he describes gives me nightmares on what Square could turn it into in the end... Especially with Wada still at the helm of the company *shivers*. Might be Yoshi's project but I'm sure Wada had some hand in the subscription fees starting soon.I feel the same way you do about things, I don't like things handed to me, and i like to earn them, but at the same time, I would support a cash shop of the type PudgieWudgie describes, I don't want to waste my gil on a face makeover, when I could fork over $5 to do it (because you know the gil cost is going to be crazy high) I also like earning my gear, but when it comes to little stuff like even gear (bathing suits or the like) then I honestly don't care.
Also I disagree with the hair and stuff being crazy high, I mean airship fees are only 5k at lvl 50 for a ride and I honestly wouldn't expect haircuts to be even that expensive, if they were though it might be a good thing because we need the gil sink. Now the fireworks and dyes.... that is dependent on the community if crafted.
I also disagree on what you describe as "little stuff" that stuff isn't little to me. Even something as silly as a costume or bathing suit is important to me because I enjoy gaining all that, whether I craft, buy it from an npc, or get it off an NM. It may not be important to you but I'm sure I'm not alone when I say even the little things are important when it comes to the whole of the game.
I'll use an example, one of the little things that I'm looking forward to but doesn't bother me whether they do it or not is the zone redesign. To me the zone redesigns are little in the sense that I enjoy the current world for what it is and I don't notice the copy & paste that others do (though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anticipating what the world will look like in 2.0). You could also that the UI is a little thing to me because I don't feel any problems with it currently ( I use a controller so that may be why) but you better believe it my little thing is something big to others. My whole point is just because they are little to you, doesn't mean I should have to pay more because I find them important.
TL;DR- you're lazy, for not reading it.
Cash shop terrible idea...if they do Cash Shop it better only be for pure vanity items...if it for gear it'll ruin the game. Horrible horrible idea...
And why would you want a Cash Shop they ruin game balance and they cost the average MMO player an extra $20 a month...the average MMO that pays will spend 3x as much more on a Free to Play game then they do a Pay to Play. The only people that benefit are the leechers who play for free and whine. Quality of game drops overall.
So while the free to players whine about how much they suck...the ones with money pay hundreds into the game and thus ruin the game balance for everyone. No thank you...if you think Free to Play and cash shop is good you fail at understanding market economics...and how supply and demand can affect a game.
Cash Shop totally bad idea!!! End story...There was a certain game I shall not name I know people spend $2000 USD to buy random chest in hopes of getting a mount which they later gave away for free anyways. Free isn't free...
How many years could you have played that MMO if it were Pay to Play $15 a month. 11+ Years!!!!!
where are you getting all this from, who said they wanted to buy epic gear from a cash shop, most of the ideas I have seen have been like mine, just small vanity stuff or server transfers. I honestly don't like cash shops at all, seen them in F2P MMORPGs and I hate them there too, but at least I can come up with a compromise that does not effect the game balance.Cash shop terrible idea...if they do Cash Shop it better only be for pure vanity items...if it for gear it'll ruin the game. NO! NO WAY IN HELL DO I WANT SE RUINING AND "IMBALANCING" THIS GAME WITH A CASH SHOP.
Cash Shop = killing the mmo.
I would have to say I wouldnt mind one as long as the only thing sold in it were fluff items. Like appearance gear or mounts. Maybe even character customization or server transfers / name changes I would be ok with. It would be when they added unfair advantages to people who buy say exp potions or something along those lines.
In other words a cash shop is fun to have around but not so great when it becomes a pay to win game.
