/sigh. This has already been addressed by the producer himself. You are not paying now for 2.0. You are paying all the content and fixes they will be adding throughout this year. Yoshida indicated that after long deliberation with management, they decided this was the best time to start charging for fees, after 1.20 is released.24 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post390634
I rarelly post on this Forum, but i think this is a perfect time to do so, first of all, when I read/saw all the changes planned I thought, here SE take my money now, but then I read, ...2.0 wont be implemented in a year, im sorry but, really? you guys are expecting people to pay for something thats not coming until 12 months? I have, with out a shadow of a doubt, being having a complete BLAST with 1.19, my faith in this game was renewed and I was having a lot of fun, for whatever is worth, all that you guys have planned is absolutely amazing, i can't wait for it! but sadly I think I'll just have to wait until 2.0 is really close by to start paying for this game.
I'll keep playing for the reminder of the free trial, as im having a lot of fun, but until Eorzea 2.0 arrives, I'll see you guys around!
(thank god skyrim comes out next month, or it would be a really boring wait :/)
It has already been confirmed, again by Yoshida himself, the content that will not be available is the content related to the 7th umbral era, the primal fights, etc. Even though he has stated it will not be available anymore, he also indicated that players that come on after 2.0 hits will be able to experience something resembling these fights. Main scenario quest will remain the same, as is the main story line of the game and will be continued on 2.0 I believe.16 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post390643
What grabbed my attention more than all the amazing revamps and additions, was the idea that the story quests that are available now will no longer be available after the 2.0 reboot. Will post-reboot new players experience any of the existing main scenario or will it be entirely redone? Would there be new introductory scenes for each nation?
Concerning jobs and classes, is there a possibility of including Thief or a similar rogue type class? I chose Pugilist as my main class because it seemed like the closest alternative, but it's not the same. Gladiator gets long swords as well as daggers, what does that leave for Thief?
I also would like to say that this announcement was extraordinarily well-timed. Just earlier today I was wondering about the fate of Free Companies and the possibility of altering my character's appearance at some point. Seems like almost all of my questions have been answered in one form or another.
In regards to the second part of his question. Yoshida has stated their focus is now on adding a new mage classes instead of more melee.
This has already been answered. There will be zones, smaller zones. There will be zoning.18 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post390653
Will we be zoning as often as we did in FFXI? The seamlesness of FFXIV really made it stand out as a world of it's own, despite the copy/paste layout.

I'm speechless.
And to also be part of this change?
SE, take my money.
This is not a question.49 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post390738
Start billing when 2.0 hits. Anytime before that is too early, IMO.
Diablo III is coming out soon.
This is not a question either. Just an opinion, which is answered on the first quote.19 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post390793
lots of things still missing in the game, and to ask people to pay for unfinished game will make you lose more people, and i dont think FFXIV stands the chance to lose more people.
Yoshida has indicated the zones will be divided in three sub zones by 2.0 which will enable the dev team to make them more dynamic. I would assume this reffers to the above concern.11 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post390932
Well, here's my question, for now:
Static content (IE: Quests, dungeons, etc, that are generally the same but for set variations implemented by the developers, with significant changes happening only when development time was expended) was an answer to an old problem of technological limits making it impossible for developers to present worlds wherein things could change and players could make any sort of meaningful difference.
In the face of new technology, and games like Guild Wars 2 beginning to push the boundaries of the old static content model, and EVE Online and supposedly the upcoming World of Darkness with the vast majority of their content being truly dynamic and rooted in player behaviour, will Final Fantasy XIV, largely static content, and the 'theme park' philosophy be able to continue to offer experiences of remotely comparable quality, enjoyability, and meaning?
Maybe not a concern about the future many will share or even understand but.. that's the one's been nagging at me most.
This is not a question either. and can be answered by my first response on the first quote.22 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post390947
Billing before 2.0 seems like a bad idea.
Pay a monthly fee to play the game in its current state. VS Save your money up and pay for 2.0 when its out.
Putting into account that there will be a 11-12 months window between billing and 2.0 @13$ a month... that will be around 143~153$ (even more if you pay in Euro!)
I rather just save it and use it to pay 2.0's fees for a year.
The answer is no. Again, this has already been addressed by Yoshida.18 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post390949
will we need to upgrade are computer for the new graphic system?
That is a really good question and I believe it will be at discretion of the developers, if they see the community severly hampered by the low population they will probably merge some severs.37 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post391079
An MMO is never finished until they pull the plug. There are always changes and additions to look forward to with excitement and a bit of trepidation. I am eager for all the proposed projects and I for one will do my part to help make it all happen both by participation in the process and by allowing SE to process my Debit Card.
I am finally enjoying this game. I play a few hours every night and more on the weekends. I think it's only fair that I start paying the Devs for all their hard work (and continued work) and for the fun I am having. I'm sure others will disagree but I hope I am not alone when trees, mountains and crystals begin ripping through Eorzea's mantle, forever changing the landscape and storyline.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't mind paying to be a part of the FFXIV experience. Isn't that what an MMO is supposed to be? Maybe I will be very lonely but at least all the Trolls will be gone...that alone is almost worth paying for.
p.s An actual question for Yoshi: "If populations decrease drastically after fees start, are you considering World Merges and/or Free/Easy/Seemless World Transfers for remaining paying customers?"
p.s.s "Can I be a beta tester for the v2.0 test server?" '>)
This is not a question. Again, can be answered above13 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post391134
The concept art is very impressive.
February/April is a much reasonable time to start billing. It'll be a more favorable time because it is closer to V2.
This has already been answered elsewhere. A system will be introduced where there are two methods for crafting: A simple process for crafting just to get the item done as soon as possible and a more complex process to HQ.15 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post391192
I think it is not the greatest idea for SquareEnix to start charging now when the game is still Mediocre at best. You WILL lose a substantial amount of players and the player base is not that big to begin with. The real business for SE starts in 2.0, why lose players now?
My question for the producer is: Will the action of crafting an item be simplified? For example one-click to craft an item, or even be able to craft a batch of the same items with one click, instead of having to use "standard synthesis" hundreds of times.
This is not a question.22 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post391194
If the company is saying they are going to start charging it's proably because it's needed. No point in saying that it would be best to wait for re-release because that it obvious. Many may argue that this game is still at F2P level. I don't think so. It's not what it should be, of course, but it's not Flyff. The fact is that all those things detailed on the PDFs and those paragraphs full of hope will not become a reality unless we keep the development alive. Whoever is going to leave because they have better choices in gaming, go. You shouldn't pay for something you feel fails to entertain you. Those who like the game and have fun playing it in their free time, stay. We'll see if the ones left are enough to get the game to V2.0.
This was answered already too. Yes, Directx 11 support will be added to the game 6 ~ 8 months after 2.0.16 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post391269
Will the new game engine thats being built support DirectX11?
This was addressed in the Live letter from the producer. Are you sure you read the questions you quoted or even saw the producers letter Live and followed the tweets?18 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post391352
Will we get the opportunity to change our character names at the same time as we change gender, race etc? Some of us may have names that would not fit very well when the rest of the character changes, and this will likely affect the game experience for some people.
We have no concrete answers to this, but there is already a thread in the front page about users finding the option to pay with Paypal where there wasnt one.21 likes: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post391418
Can we expect payment billing with Paypal instead? I'm very concern on this click and buy thinggie which until now have no answers to it.

Will billing be updated or changed to where we don't have to use a third party companies like Clink and Buy? I would prefer if I payed Square-Enix Directly.
Reffer to the above answer.
Anyway... all of those question were addressed either on the Live letter or on the several interviews across the globe Yoshi was part of. Feel free to keep looking through the thread. Keep in mind not all questions were picked from the thread and some were picked from the live tweet feed.
The letter was a sucess.
