They already did. There is a very large group of people waiting for this feature before they return. It occurs to me that they really should be more customer conscious. Is it more prudent to add a feature that does nothing to add to game experience and makes your current customers dislike your product, or to add the feature and drive those people away.
I'm not saying that lots of people will quit playing over this issue, but there will be some.
Honestly, will people stop playing if they do not add this feature?
You do know they have over 200 staff working on different things in teams right??? not one person working on Jump & everything else? wI don't believe it. Unless, by chance, you are a developer at Square Enix?
Why would that be nice?
Seems pointless. Fix party alliances, loot drop management, looking for group, linkshell management, server lag, /random, inventory sorting, AH and a multitude of other issues before even comtemplating the addition of jump.
On second thought, just fix the problems and forget about jump.
That stuff is coming before jumping, it's not even coming until 2.0 and the map revamps are going to be taking advantage of the fact that we'll be able to jump. You'll be able to have fluid character movement and exploration and adding jump allows for new battle mechanics.I don't believe it. Unless, by chance, you are a developer at Square Enix?

The team working on the current game is separate from the one working on 2.0, so working on jump wont delay stuff that is coming before then.
This is further proof why jumping shouldn't be in the game at all, because idiots like YOU can't understand that some of us don't find it attractive to the point we at least are asking to be able to turn it OFF and so you have to be tyrannical about it.I've never seen so many people nag and complain over them implementing a jump feature.
"Can I have a feature to turn off jump so I don't see it spammed?" Really? And square is gonna cater this jump feature they are spending time implementing so YOU can't see it. Wow, people amaze me
Unless you want a platformer (which is NOT an RPG), jumping is NOT a 3d-feature. Quite frankly, turning XIV into an MMOP would even be construed as false advertisement.
I'm just a little confused as to when jumping became a vital feature for RPGs. I mean, I guess Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest and Final Fantasy X-2 were game of the year material after all.
Wow...this sad thread is really still going. Jump is being added, there's nothing you can do about it, adapt, stop crying about an extremely small additional feature and move on. Again, its only jump...not some world ending game breaking cataclysm ending the lives of thousands. Geez people, you make me face palm every time I browse these forums.
I'm just really happy a free form of jumping is being worked on. I believe in Yoshi-P and the devs team, they will make jumping Final Fantasy-esque as well as useful in plenty of circumstances in the new Eorzea maps.Just gonna drop in here and clear up the fact that the jumping animations that were shown were just test animations and Yoshida felt the height was too high/over-the-top so things are still being adjusted. They weren't 100% finalized, finished animations but just a sample video to show off for fun during the LIVE broadcast.
That said, please continue with Jump discussion #2104.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
I would be more confused at the hostility to the point of flaming someone for wanting jumping. Nothing will satisfy them short of not having it at all including any other features they dislike.
If they have such a deep rooted hatred towards jumping in any form because they find it disruptive then wheres the thread about emote spam and repeatedly (dis)mounting your chocobo? Right, because very few people do it. You have no actual case beyond anecdotal evidence. I've been playing WoW, Aion and Rift over 7 years and you have no idea what you are talking about if you think everyone is jumping all the time.
I'm just having a laugh at all the folks who say "MMOs MUST have a jump button or else it's NOT AN MMO!" I've played plenty of games with one, and it never bothered me. But at the same time, I can't imagine anyone considering it the #1 most important thing that must be added above all else to make this game a success.Wow...this sad thread is really still going.
