That's the issue I believe. For the sake of example I'll use smaller numbers just so it's easier to show.

WAR has 1k life. He uses ToB to get 20% more life, putting him at 1200.
Boss begins to cast the 99% dmg skill. It sees that this WAR has 1200 HP, so the game sets the damage at 99% of 1200.
ToB wears off, placing the WAR at 1000 HP.
Because the cast from the boss started when ToB was up, it was calculated for 99% of 1200 HP, meaning it deals more than 1000 points of damage, killing the WAR now that ToB has worn off in during the narrow window of the cast bar.

This hasn't anything to do with Thrill of Battle!

The last (3rd?) Charybdis is followed by an immediate auto attack, so hold your Holmgang/Hollowed Ground/Living Dead ready. Thrill of Battle INCREASES and heals you for 20% of your max HP, but DOES NOT decrease your current HP - if you are not at max HP - once it wears off.

At least this was my raid group experience.

I haven't seen any auto-attacks from this boss at that point, because it IMMEDIATELY starts casting Roar or Twinbolt. I'd been holmganging them, till I was certain it couldn't use an auto-attack.

I even saw the amount of damage I took from the attack: Much higher than my normal amount of health.

And you only get five seconds. That's not a lot of time to mentally count out which # cast it is, and what measures I'll have to take. Clicking off a buff that won't be there most of the time isn't something that I'd think of.

On rare occassions bosses can get autos immediately after cast bars end, at least in my experience. Sometimes Sheltron would get proced by an auto before the actual cast bar hit and I was like ?????. I'm not even sure this is the real issue, but you could always look into the combat log.

I'll believe your story tho, since you say the damage was abnormally high. I guess the only solution is to use Thrill in other points of that fight. Kinda bullshit that a defensive cooldown would kill you, lmao.

However, if they didn't really fix this for Photon, they def won't fix it for Chabrydis.

I havent't tried savage yet, but is Charybdis really doing 99% of your max HP as damage or just bring your HP to one ?
    i.e, if you're not full life, you'll die ?
Would a mitigation CD reduce that damage ?

It's a very specific situation, though. I doubt a lot of people will run into it.

I reckon a few tests are in order. At first I was a bit skeptical, since that would basically mean that if you're not at full HP and you hurt yourself by the time Charybdis finishes casting, you should technically also die. But... that's impossible since what's gonna hurt you if he's casting Charybdis?

Thrill of Battle changing the maximum HP you have offers a unique scenario for this.

Also, I believe the attack calculates the damage right when it finishes casting. Otherwise, people who aren't at full HP could just get healed during the cast and end up with more than 1 HP. So I don't think turning Thrill off at the start of the cast will be enough. It must be like a split-second window where the damage from Charybdis is hitting you at exactly the same time your Thrill wore off.

It takes some spectacularly unfortunate timing for it to happen, but it can happen.

As much as I'd love to rant about it until the devs change it so it's no longer a possibility, I feel like there's far greater things to worry about in the grand scheme of things.

So, I'm just throwing it out there that Warriors should be REALLY careful about this, maybe even make Chardy the attack you save ToB for.

I've only ever used it after the attack. It's great as a heal. Never thought there'd be a reason to use it before.
So as such, can't say I've had this issue lol
