Hard to define "difficult". But in a relative sense, crafting was more difficult in 3.0 than now.
You can see something is wrong when you can craft 2star item using normal mats with a macro.
SE was really sloppy, for example, I have materia for getting my miner/botanist to 1200 percpetion, but why would I do that? I don't need HQ ore/plants, I can hq everything with just normal mats.
Does that makes any sense?
