Version Check Error / Launcher/Boot/Update Error

I was able to get everything to work by doing the following:
1) Open FFXIV_BOOT.cfg in notepad.
2) Change BootVersionCheckMode to 1
3) Save and close the file.
4) Delete all the previous patch data under /downloads/ffxivpatch
5) Start the game and it should work.

Unfortunately going through the same situation as Belgamins partner. Changed DNS (tried all of the ones in the link above), saved the damned notepad oh so many times and nothing. The only thing left is to reinstall the game which I'm REALLY reluctant to do so - I haven't seen anyone say it worked when simply reinstalled..

I actually have a question are you by any chance based in europe? My boyfriend has been experiencing a terrible amount of trouble and has to run on a VPN due to their agressive DDOS broad huge bans they're doing.. He's concerned that its an after effect of them blanketing certain areas of europe with just a straight out blanket ban.. So he was able to fix his constant 90K's .. But now? Now its the goddamn patch he can't even get in.. No matter what he's done. Short of a miracle I don't think its going to work either. Still hovering around for more possible solutions. Yeah based in Europe - I'm going to wait it out for a bit and see what happens but its frustrating it works for some and not for others :/

I've done this, including deleting the pervious patch files in the ffxivpatch folder, and still nothing. The client will start downloading the first folder and then stop right there with errors

I have never had an issue with this game before today. The updater fails for the launcher. I have straight up disabled any sort of firewall/security software, altered the .cfg file while deleting any existing download data, run everything as the administrator, and tried flushing and changing DNS. Nothing works (for reference I am US based and my ISP is working solid today). This makes me particularly upset since I just came back to the game a few weeks ago and bought Stormblood just over the weekend.
