Funny thing, a japanese guy cleared up to 180 on astro before stormblood. Most likely, that person can clear 200 now. Im sure we will see someone from japan pr angelus from cactuar doing it first.
Speaking of which - WTB sustaining potions available for 3-5k gil each from a vendor...seems like a good gil sink come on SE!
the sustaining potion won't be enough to survive a second meteor on 180 I guess. some classes will need to use blood bath or mitigation (for example black mages who reached 180 will have to use virus on behemoth to lower the damage.I dunno, the Sustain might be strong enough to keep the person alive if they are on the nose when applying it. Otherwise the strategy would be to make sure you hold off your burst dmg until that final moment making sure you don't use it at a moment when it won't be accessible to you.
But you are right, the fight is all about having stamina before you burst it down. so you pop lust at about 20% ( I think..), spam sustaining potions, mitigation and give it all you got.
I have 97 sustaining potions thanks to my attempts lol. But I had to consume them like crazy later on, so I guess I already had over 100 potions to keep me alive.


I was curious about this yesterday and checked the leaderboards. Unless my I'm misremembering, the farthest I have seen is a RDM on 186. So maybe some day?
I am not sure if one can still do this as a summoner. The sustain potion do help but I am not sure if this is enough. The <100 are easy as a redmage..The biggest problem I have is not my skill but randoms DCs thanks to the server. Everytime I do PotD I am going to be kicked at least once..which counts as death if you are solo..since I do run it in groups sometimes I see others getting DCs too so its not only me..
Dear SE please either give us the chance to get back into the instance if we are kicked (like it will only close after 5-10 minutes) or make it so that you can have at least like 3 "deaths". I mean you need to run 1-200 without normal deaths and having a DC will make hours of work be gone for something we cant influence at all. (Strangely when I was kicked right in front of the exit after the boss I was able to get back in just fine..but this was with a group..yet the group was not there anymore..why is that not possible for solo play?)

Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.


There's a recorded stream of RDM dying on 185 to a single mob while still have two Rage and three Witching and over half hour time. If he was more carefull, he'd probably got to 200.
And yes, DCs are the biggest challenge in solo, can't do 7-8 floor sets without disconnecting with 90002 at least once.
And the sad thing is, that this happens only that much since SB started: I did have some DCs before that but never so often.

Monk 180. Red mage 185. Same character. How interesting. Even more interesting is their PvP track record. O_o
they removed tank busters from all bosses. They are fairly easy now, since you can just spam sustain potions anyway
the biggest hurdle is rng (floor effects, mimics, pomanders, traps) and thats all to it (aside from dcs)
but everyone should be able to get to 200 now if hes lucky and careful
