And the sad thing is, that this happens only that much since SB started: I did have some DCs before that but never so often.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
they removed tank busters from all bosses. They are fairly easy now, since you can just spam sustain potions anyway
the biggest hurdle is rng (floor effects, mimics, pomanders, traps) and thats all to it (aside from dcs)
but everyone should be able to get to 200 now if hes lucky and careful

That's Incorrect, the tank busters are still there, a boss for example Yulunggu will use its cleave splash which is the tankbuster, Some infact even have 2 busters.
I hope they fix the DC issue as Dcing at say floor 180 is ridiculous especially as Potd is a time consuming activity itself, As Alleo said above, give us 5-10mins to get back in, leave our character at the same spot, and have the same aggro'd enemies attack if you was fighting them as it happened to stop it being exploited.
ok, they still have "tankbuster", but instead of 10k+ dmg they deal less dmg than autohits (~2k), so they arent really existent anymoreThat's Incorrect, the tank busters are still there, a boss for example Yulunggu will use its cleave splash which is the tankbuster, Some infact even have 2 busters.

sustaining Potions are not the only thing you need. You need to know your job and POTD in and out. DPS in general (unless RDM) will have to mitigate damage by using virus, bloodbath etc. Bards will have the hardest time, as they only have potions and second wind, but nothing else to mitigate.
So you need: skill, sustain potions, food and luck. Infusion potions are highly recommend on later floors.

I've personally made it to 150 before the new achievements came out.
Knowing the boss beforehand I would have likely planned better and have had the win. But alas...
I'm not sure past 170/180 solo is going to be very possible ever, less we go unsynced one day.

I died at boss 150 yesterday so I can say that the bosses still can be hard. You need a certain pomander at boss 140 and need to hit him constantly with it to win this one so its not that easy and boss 150 was still quite mean with the adds. (I was tired and panicked a little x))
But yes luck is still quite a big reason to win or not. I was really unlucky on my last few floors till 150 and never got the good pomanders and had to use a lot of the rage ones. I also had no pomander of life left. But you still need to understand your job and know how to do the bosses because they still hit hard and one mistake can cost you your life. I missed killing that one zombie so it held me in place and the AOE killed me after that.
In the end DC is still the problem number one for me. I decided to try it with a character that started at 51 because I will not lose all the floors with that and I had a DC on floor 53..if this had been my other slot I would have lost all the work from 1-100...generally I find the achievement for the second solo title a bit too much..it still would have been quite the work if it started to count if you try it from 51..but from 1, thats just evil imo.
Could you imagine how bad it would be if you need to beat coil and Alex savage without a wipe to go into omega? And this every time?
Edit: sorry messed up the bosses..wrong floors

140 boss is the easiest one, can be killed in under 30 seconds even as a tank. Give him 5 vulnerability stacks at start and every Resolution cast will deal over 40k damage. Killed him every time just when adds spawned.
