simple fix to give SCH its mitigation identity

Bring Adlo up 100 potency or give it a 150% shield (weaker shield than AST, oh noooo but it gets a crit proc so w/e), give succor a 150% shield (on par with AST).
Remove SS from AF and make it a 15-20% mitigation on a 60s CD (so it doesnt compete with indom as much and probably more situational like that too).

Give Fey wind a 2% increase to 5% and make silent dusk into a AOE bleed, like whispering dawn being a aoe hot but instead of hot you get a dot.

I dont even know what dissipation should do... healing buff to overpriced heals is kind of wtf, but if it affected AF abilities I feel like it would be too strong. Something like a CD refresh on AF would be a nice tradeoff for the fairy, while either resummoning her or giving enough MP back to match the cost of a summon.

I would much rather have had changes like, or similar to this than what was given.

Most SCH's fully geared sit around 18k mana so returns more like 1800.

Two drains for mana and one just in case someone f*cks up? I can live with that. I have to agree with Lildragora however.

Instead...we have...

Something needs to change here. I just wish I knew what, to be honest. You don't want to take away ASTs ability to mesh with other healers, but even standing alone, they're extremely potent...It just feels like they shouldn't flat-out replace their stance counterpart, when they definitely, definitely do. Not to mention those cards basically promise you a raid slot...

I'm not going to pretend like I have an answer. I just know where the underlying issue is. I hate to scapegoat, but it rhymes with Fastrologian.

You're thinking of Aetherize. Aetherize returns 10% mana, not Energy Drain, which returns a flat 1200 mana at 70 (mana returned does not scale with gear, though its damage does).

Even on threads about Scholars, there's always a way to weasel in complaints about Astrologian.

Real talk, I'm excited about the changes to scholars. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out in execution. I play a White Mage, Scholar, and Astrologian, so I'm gonna test all the changes out as soon as the servers come up.

SCH have absolutely no problem healing dungeons with their kit though, so this is a funny metric to use.

Ah, don't misunderstand me! I don't think SCH has problems in dungeons per se, but it's definitely the worst off out of the three when it comes to ease and overall performance: WHM has massive burst healing and damage for incredible MP efficiency, and AST has decent burst damage with kinda bad MP efficiency- but of course still retain their cards. AST also has much stronger shields, a stronger regen even in Noct (Collective), and a more reliable burst healing option in Benefic II.

SCH has weird and mediocre AoE damage and the burst healing isn't as good in trash pulls as it is in raids, since you end up burning through your resources with more risk than WHM, not to mention using Bane for AoE also takes away some of those burst healing resources. Fey Union provides a strong HoT, but since you gotta charge the gauge first it won't be up for the first few pulls in a dungeon, which tend to be some of the most dangerous ones. With how big tank damage is in pulls rn, it hurts a bit, but it's still certainly 100% doable, the kit's performance is just more lackluster in general for this specific purpose.

Though, the new Miasma II seems pretty decent. A 200 undecaying potency attack that you will cast at least three times in every pull sounds good. Much better than the big nothing SCH has right now. With Bane and Shadow Flare, that's around... between 110 and 150 ish potency per tick when all three are up?

I don't think this update addresses SCH's most glaring issues. If people thought SCH was bad before 4.05, then I don't see how any of these changes change that.

You want mitigation? Bring AST which has strong shields, that cost less mp and are instant.
You want buffs? Bring AST which has cards that buff DPS every 30 seconds. AST even has its own chain strategem now that lasts longer and could possibly be reapplied every 30 seconds.
You want healing power? Bring WHM or AST.
You want healer DPS? Bring WHM or AST.

There is absolutely no reason to bring a SCH.
