RDM healing scales off int not mind.@TankHunter
That kinda thing is becoming more and more common though, the leaving and relying on RDMs as healers thing. I can't tell you how often i'd be attacking like normal and notice the "healer" burning through MP to attack as well, if i don't stop attacking and turn my focus to the tank a lot of tanks i ran with would of been dead. yes RDMs can heal but most of us are not built to be healers, myself included. I focused more on Intelligence for attacking wise over mind. RDM is a DPS for a reason.
And in this case it was the 2 SCH could not keep up, especially not with how fast their fairies were dropping from the AoEs. And when people are dropping left and right there is only so much they can do with swiftcast.
I have legit seen people go into 60 dungeons with ironworks stuff equipped, not glamored. Not a full set, the furthest I've seen a full set is Great Gubal nm. But like a weapon and boots.
Finishing up leveling WHM. SAM is new to the dungeon, and BLM is well geared in dungeon greens. WAR is in all whites with a couple of greens, proceeds to pull two groups. The instant I stop spamming Cure II he drops to 30%. I go OOM, lucid, assize and pot are all on cooldown, still 4 mobs left. He dies. We die.
A few pulls later, off he goes to get another group. Same outcome. I took the penalty.
Only a group all in full 310-320s can comfortably handle multiple pulls right now. Anything less and mobs won't die fast enough, or tank/healer resources will be stressed. We're not overgeared after 2 full years into the expansion any more. One group at a time is perfectly acceptable.
I have to manually heal my fairy manually quite a bit now. Not sure if that was the deal (RIP Sustain....), but she really won't heal herself at all, let alone when anyone is less than full HP, and there is no safe spot to place her in RM.
Although when I SCH'd it, the heal checks were so monstrous I pretty much had to forgoe most DPSing save for keeping Shadowflare and Bio going. I had to Lucid and Aetherflow the instant they came up.
It's ROUGH, but we did it without a RDM.
Not my roulette but my boyfriend's. I'm sitting next to him watching some Unhhh (yassss Trixie and Katya!) and he gets a WHM healer in Kugane Castle. He mains WAR and I main WHM so he is used to this. He starts out in Defiance and pulls the first pack solo to gague the healer.
She just heals him through, I hear a lot of cures going off and make an offhand comment that he needs to try to avoid going back to his DRG roots and standing in AoE. He comes back with "Babe, watch this for me" and I knew something was up because he always has a snarky response when I make fun of him for floortanking.
This healer is just healing. They're on the second pull and he is rotating cooldowns and she hasn't cast a single damage spell despite him being ilvl 310+ and clearly a capable tank in tank stance. Most of the time she is jumping.
I'm all for patience with new players but she has more classes 60+ than I do. I start egging him on to pull bigger even though I doubt she can handle it but he won't cause he doesn't want to be mean. I at least convince him to swap stances or this is going to take a long damn time.
At which point she starts typing "tnk stnc" instead of jumping. Like, repeatedly. I am waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump out of my hamper because this girl is everything I hate in a healer all rolled up in one stupid Miqo package and the only logical answer is they brought back Punk'd specifically for me even though I'm not famous.
After the first boss she is still doing the same thing and a vote kick popped up. I was logged in at that point so he agreed and I queued in progress (in need bonus baby!) and we finished that run in style.
Got all 3 comms, not often that happens for me since we normally queue together but to the DPS that kicked her thank you and to the tanks out there that I might get snippy with I am sorry because you might get that freaking trainwreck of a healer sometimes who doesn't even understand vowels much less her DPS kit and I am sorry for that.
In RM normal mode, I remember a healer giving new players that didn't clear it some advice on mechanics. He shrugged it off at first on a couple wipes, but got angry and insulted everyone for not dodging mechanics, and decided to stop healing us during add phase. He kept asking for kicks to avoid the 30 minute penalty but a few people told him he'd get reported not just for wasting our time for not leaving and getting penalized, but he also kept spamming "Kick me!" about 20 times (I counted). He gave up and left the party 7 minutes later. We got a new healer and did get one wipe, but still cleared next attempt.
Went to an Ex Lakshmi clear pt, (I like to help people get clears plus music is so good.) Anyhow we had a SMN who never summoned Bahamut once. And he died a lot, so much that he never resummoned Carby and killed the adds without vril because he didn't peel carby off it when it was alive...) It was pretty bad. They kicked him eventually but I was really surprised that I didn't catch it sooner. We kept hitting enrage and I was like hmmm I wonder why and then I said wait have I seen Bahamut?! LOL
and sure enough they kicked smner and cleared it....wowz
true but an RDM which is a damaging DPS by default should not be looked at for healing, help healing maybe but not expected to since they have the dual cast. Otherwise what is the point of a healer then? They might as well just remove it.
Leveling roulette today, as WHM, dropped me into an in-prog Vault that was at Charibert. The party was WAR, RDM and RDM. According to them, the RDMs had been healing more than the previous healer did.
They gave me 2 comms just for healing 1 fight properly. I felt so sorry for them.
My RDM isn't anywhere near 60 yet, so I figured doing a Main Scenario Roulette wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. Get CM (ugh). Everything was going alright until the last trash pack. The tanks weren't pulling back to the cannons so I ran in and LB'd most of the mobs. The two tanks had the mobs kind of split so I LB'd the majority pack. We still had a couple of imperials alive and the colossi with the other tank, but the tank free of his mobs decides to just rush in and pull the final boss all by himself.
We had a couple newbies unfamiliar with lockout methods, I decided to stay with the healers and watched as he locked everyone else out. He got very upset at the rest of us for killing the trash instead of rushing in, even though he gave no warning and no one was really paying attention to him. Thankfully he didn't try to solo the boss and just used the cannons enough summoned the first wave of mobs so he could sac and we could all go in. No one tried to vote kick him (I'm kind of surprised) and one of the healers had a countdown macro so we finished the boss, and the rest of the dungeon, smoothly.
