Then that makes it even worse, because that would mean he went through every dungeon and trial before Snowcloak, that all gives you poetics, and still couldn't be bothered to buy a single piece of 120 gear.
And seriously, an ilvl 49 belt? When job quests give you an ilvl 90 belt as it is?
Sure, but the whole Jump Potion witch hunt is becoming worse and worse. Imo, you should educate yourself before making claims. Just saying.
They do, but he was wearing ilvl 100-115 left side gear that he had apparently bought with gil. Either way, it was stupid. He was also using an ilvl 90 weapon.
I can still remember, back when I was just a little BLM, going into Castrum Meridianum for the first time, wearing a full set of my ilvl 90 job quest gear, along with an Ironworks weapon, thanks to having a recruitment bonus. It really begs the question of why this PLD, who is playing a job that is in high demand and therefore makes it much easier for them to earn poetics, couldn't do the same or better for Snowcloak.
Allow me to play the world's smallest violin for people who actively pay more money to get less content and be carried.

That all sounds like " he was a new player that didn't know where to spend his tomes and opted to use mostly vendor stuff that he knew how to locate and could afford" to me. Not knowing where to use tomes is a common issue for new players, did you try to ask him?
Also a level 49 belt in a level 50 dungeon really isn't that big of a deal.
I totally get what you are saying. I'm just trying to figure out how that would happen. LOL! I just glanced at an MSQ list. And just levelling the MSQ on one class when you unlock Snowcloak your gear should all be 110 except chest, belt, and weapon which if you did nothing but MSQ for gear and never got drops would be 90. A bit squishy but it should be functional.They do, but he was wearing ilvl 100-115 left side gear that he had apparently bought with gil. Either way, it was stupid. Edit: The only thing i can think is he never did his level 50 job quest.

I specifically told him that he could buy gear with tomestones. I said that the best gear doesn't even need gil to be bought. I told him he could go to the Novice Network and ask for help. All of this was ignored or insulted.
Maybe I'm a little desensitized to seeing people still in ironworks in level 60 dungeons, but overall it's about 30 points of lost defense on the tank versus equipping the ilvl 80 belt of light. But the ARR dungeons have been heavily nerfed and given that the rest of the party is almost guaranteed to be overgeared and I've seen Bards tank the last boss in Snow Cloak without major issues.
Are you sure its ironworks and not glamour? I myself use the ironworks RDM sword because in my opinion its the best looking one so far but its over top my Duriun Smallsword.Maybe I'm a little desensitized to seeing people still in ironworks in level 60 dungeons, but overall it's about 30 points of lost defense on the tank versus equipping the ilvl 80 belt of light. They seriously need to make Royal Menagerie minimum ilvl 290.
Being in HQ quest ilvl 285 gear is not enough to get through Royal Menagerie with 2 SCH healers, and a RDM covering healing and revives as well, not without absolutely perfect play. SCHs just do not heal that well, especially not when their fairies drop quickly from all the AoE dropped on the field.
We got to phase 2, even reasonably far into it on the first try. Second try? Not even past the add phase. Then our geared tank left, followed by one of our SCH and eventually vote abandon won.
@TankHunter
That kinda thing is becoming more and more common though, the leaving and relying on RDMs as healers thing. I can't tell you how often i'd be attacking like normal and notice the "healer" burning through MP to attack as well, if i don't stop attacking and turn my focus to the tank a lot of tanks i ran with would of been dead. yes RDMs can heal but most of us are not built to be healers, myself included. I focused more on Intelligence for attacking wise over mind. RDM is a DPS for a reason.
