Another problem is side-quests (of which Return to Ivalice will be counted as one) can't influence shenanigans of the main scenario too much. A slight nod happened to it surrounding the Coils in the Main Scenario, but I think that's the only way they could tap into side-quests. Else, after a point you'd have to make Return to Ivalice be required to continue with the story if the Viera are so deeply tied to it. This is why I'm worried. It's probably be easier for SE to introduce them as a beast tribe, canonically, but if they do that, then Viera can't be a playable race due to precedents already set lore-wise that beast tribes cannot be a Warrior of Light.
